About the role

Leviton is seeking a Senior Engineer of Cloud Services to join our innovative team driving the future of IoT, smart home, and automation technologies. In this role, the Cloud Services Engineer will be deeply involved in the full product development lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring cutting-edge ideas to life. We're looking for creative problem-solvers and self-starters who thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and are passionate about emerging technologies. In addition to technical expertise, this role will play a key part in guiding and influencing the cloud engineering team. The Senior Engineer will help shape team processes, foster collaboration, and facilitate Scrum events. This position is designed for individuals who aspire to grow their career and over time transition into an Engineering Manager role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative software solutions aligned with business-unit strategy for new platforms and products.
  • Collaborate with global teams including engineers, product managers, and UX designers to architect scalable cloud-based solutions.
  • Design and develop proof-of-concepts, product specifications, and backend systems.
  • Lead brainstorming and technical discussions to identify optimal solutions for customer needs.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies for potential integration into products and services.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to ensure high-quality software delivery.
  • Write and maintain complex code for advanced programming assignments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve high-priority technical issues.
  • Prepare and oversee project plans and statements of work.

Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in JavaScript and Node.js.
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and working with frameworks like Express.js or LoopBack.
  • Proven ability to develop innovative cloud solutions and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and monitoring applications in AWS or similar cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL, MySQL, and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with Agile and Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Git or other source control systems.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to analyze complex requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead technical teams without formal authority.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience in project leadership, including planning, prioritization, and risk management.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience.
  • Extensive experience in cloud-based application development and deployment.
  • Prior experience leading projects or small teams in a cloud or software engineering environment.
  • Exposure to people leadership responsibilities (mentoring, performance feedback, or team coordination).
