Who You Will Work With:

The vacant Cloud Security, Senior Specialist role will report to the Leader, Cloud Platform. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and optimisation of cloud security controls across Interac’s environments.


Operating as a senior individual contributor within the Cloud Security function, this role supports the development and enforcement of cloud security standards by building and integrating security capabilities into cloud platforms and delivery pipelines.

The role partners closely with Cloud Platform, Engineering, and Security teams to implement secure cloud architectures, improve visibility and control coverage, and support risk‑based decision making across cloud environments.
 

What You Will Do:  ​

  • Design and implement cloud security controls across AWS, Azure, and hybrid environments

  • Support secure configuration of identity, networking, and data protection services

  • Build and maintain reusable security patterns aligned to enterprise standards

  • Implement security controls using Infrastructure‑as‑Code and policy‑as‑code

  • Integrate security guardrails into CI/CD pipelines

  • Improve automation to reduce manual effort and increase consistency

  • Operate and configure cloud security tools (e.g., CSPM, CNAPP, IAM controls)

  • Ensure onboarding of services and platforms into cloud security tooling

  • Contribute to improving coverage, visibility, and reporting

  • Support threat modelling activities for cloud workloads

  • Identify security gaps and recommend remediation actions

  • Integrate threat intel and risk-based approach into prioritization models

  • Support investigations involving cloud security incidents

  • Contribute to improving security controls based on findings

  • Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements

What You Bring: 

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Information Security, with expertise in designing, implementing, and supporting security controls across enterprise environments.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Security.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and their native security and identity management (IAM) capabilities

  • Experience with developing and implementing automation and security capabilities on cloud platforms

  • Experience with administering Cloud security tools like CSPM, CWPP, SSPM, CNAPP, etc.

  • Highly proficient in programming languages like Python and Java, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform and Ansible

  • Experience with container orchestration systems like Kubernetes + OpenShift

  • Knowledge of general cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities and respective mitigation strategies

  • Ability to translate technical and compliance requirements into engineering roadmap and execution

  • Experience with general SIEM, SOAR, IPS/IDS, VM, EDR, etc. security tools

  • Knowledge of security industry standards and best practices such as OWASP, ISO 27001/2, NIST

  • Cybersecurity certificates such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM and/or technical certificates such as AWS Certified Specialty – Security, or Azure Security Engineer

  • Excellent communicator, comfortable with discussing complex technical concepts with engineers or leaders. 

  • Outcomes driven, the ability to figure-it-out to reach the desired outcome 

  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work, both personally and at a team level

  • Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Ability to work autonomously with attention to detail

  • An understanding of technical concepts and are an avid learner of new technology

  • CCSP, CISSP, CISM, or AWS/Azure certifications considered an asset.

  • Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full‑time capacity.

The hiring range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000 , and you will also be eligible for our short-term incentive plan. The exact amount will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, but Interac’s commitment goes beyond compensation.
