The Cloud Ops Engineer II is responsible for automating and supporting undifferentiated functionality across all AWS accounts using the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK). This role ensures the efficient operation and management of cloud infrastructure, with a focus on automation, monitoring, and maintenance in support of business objectives. The engineer leverages AI coding agents and agentic workflows to accelerate delivery of infrastructure code, pipelines, and operational tooling, while maintaining high standards for security, quality, and reliability. Performs additional duties and projects as assigned. Consistent regular scheduled attendance is considered an essential function of this job.
Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Automate cloud infrastructure tasks using AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK)
- Monitor and maintain the health of cloud environments, ensuring high availability and performance
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for cloud deployments using GitHub Actions
- Build and integrate basic AI-agentic workflows (e.g., agent-assisted runbooks, automated remediation, operational tooling) to reduce manual toil in cloud operations
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure cloud solutions meet business requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues
Position Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Required or Acceptable Job-Related Experience: Experience in cloud operations, infrastructure automation, and AWS services. Hands-on exposure to AI coding agents and basic agentic AI concepts.
- Years of Job-Related Experience Required: 3+ years of experience in cloud operations and automation.
Technical/Other Skills Required:
- Proficiency in core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK)
- Strong scripting and programming skills in Python and TypeScript
- Experience with CI/CD tools, specifically GitHub Actions
- Demonstrated ability to use AI coding agents (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Amazon Q Developer, Cursor, or similar) in day-to-day engineering work generating, reviewing, testing, and refactoring code with appropriate human oversight
- Basic understanding of agentic AI concepts - LLM-based agents, tool/function calling, prompt design, and guardrails and how they apply to operational automation
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows and infrastructure-as-code best practices
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
