Job Title: Cloud Operations Administrator

Position Summary

As a Cloud Operations Administrator in our North American service delivery group,you will be responsible for configuring, monitoring, and managing the cloud instances of CBN solutions for our Canadian government customers at the federal and provincial/territorial levels. In this position you will manage and provide ongoing support to ensure they remain highly available, reliable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Administration
  • Install, configure, and maintain services, instance nodes, networks, and other IT infrastructure components.
  • Design, maintain, and improve infrastructure-as-code and automation pipelines to reduce manual operations and improve reliability and repeatability.

Performance Monitoring and Tuning
  • Monitor system and database instances performance, identify issues, and optimize performance.

Security Management
  • Implement and manage security measures to protect systems and databases instances from unauthorized access and threats.

Backup and Recovery
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery plans to ensure services and instances are ready and available 24/7 and on demand.

Troubleshooting and Support
  • Provide technical support for systems and instances in test and production environments.

Documentation
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system and database configurations, changes, processes, and procedures.


Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Fluent in English (speak, read, write)
  • Able to obtain (in a timely manner) and maintain Government of Canada Secret (Level II) security clearances
  • Able to work on-call rotation (evenings, weekends)
  • Able to travel approx. 2-6 weeks/year

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology (or a related field) or an equivalent combination of education and additional relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of the following:
    • System administration
    • Cloud computing
    • Azure or AWS development
    • DevOps practices
    • Automation
    • Network protocols
    • Security best practices
  • Technical expertise:
    • Linux, Windows Server, cloud instances.
    • VMware, XCP-NG, JVM
    • Docker, Kubernetes
    • Puppet, Terraform, Ansible, Bicep, Helmchart
  • 4-7 years of experience of system administration/cloud operations experience
    • A mix of on-prem, hybrid and cloud environment experience
    • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or AWS Associate certification.
  • Knowledge of DevOps principles and practices
  • Technical expertise:
    • Servers, Storage (SAN/NAS), Switches, Routers, VLAN
    • Firewalls, VPN, VLANs
    • Apache, Tomcat
    • SQL, Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ruby
    • Active Directory, Kerberos, LDAP, TLS, BitLocker, LUKS
    • Git, OpenSSL, TCPDump, Wireshark, PowerCLI, SysInternals Suite, BIRT
  • Fluency in French (speak, read, write)
