Position SummaryReporting to the Director of Information Technology, the Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure. This role supports Gifthealth's technology platforms by ensuring reliability, performance, and cost efficiency of cloud environments.
We are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to partner closely with application engineering, security, and data teams to enable rapid product development while maintaining compliance and operational excellence. This position plays a key role in supporting business growth and platform stability, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, operational excellence, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities- Designs, implements, and maintains cloud infrastructure in AWS and Azure using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CloudFormation/Bicep).
- Ensures cloud environments meet defined security, compliance, and reliability standards (networking, encryption, backups, DR).
- Implements IAM architectures and access controls as defined by security standards
- Partners with engineering teams to support application deployments, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Monitors, troubleshoots, and resolves infrastructure issues; improves observability and alerting.
- Optimizes cloud costs through usage analysis, rightsizing, and automation.
- Maintains documentation, standards, and best practices for cloud infrastructure.
Qualifications- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field OR equivalent professional experience (Required)
- Licensure/Certification:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) (Preferred)
- Microsoft Azure Administrator or Solutions Architect certification (Preferred)
- Experience:
- 4-6 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or site reliability engineering (Required)
- Direct, hands-on experience supporting production workloads in AWS and Azure (Required)
- Experience supporting SaaS platforms at scale (Preferred)
- Experience in regulated or compliance-driven environments (Preferred)
- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of public cloud platforms, specifically AWS and Azure services; cloud networking, security architectures, and identity management; and infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD concepts (Required)
- Knowledge of healthcare, pharmacy, or regulated environments (HIPAA, SOC 2); and multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud architectures (Preferred)
- Hands-on experience with AWS and Azure provisioning and management (Required)
- Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform strongly preferred) (Required)
- Scripting or automation (Python, Bash, or similar) (Required)
- Containerization and orchestration (Docker, ECS, EKS/AKS) (Preferred)
- Monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Datadog, etc.) (Preferred)
- Ability to design scalable and resilient systems (Required)
- Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues (Required)
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and security teams (Required)
- Ability to influence cloud best practices and standards across teams (Preferred)
Work Environment- Location: Remote
- Schedule: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday with night and weekend hours on occasion as determined by the needs of the business.
- Regular meetings with internal Application Engineering, Security & Compliance, Data Engineering, and Product & Technology teams. This role may also have meetings with external cloud service providers and third-party tooling or managed service vendor representatives.
Key Essential Functions- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while writing or reviewing documentation
- Must be able to work on a computer for the entire shift
- Must be able to attend virtual meetings with cross-functional teams.
