JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinical Systems Manager (CSM) supervises the Clinical Systems Analysts and coordinates scheduling and department coverage for the clinical unit of the Information Services Department. This position is responsible for the implementation and management of clinical information systems for Ephraim McDowell Health, manages clinical systems within the Information Services Department, and coordinates resources as needed. The Clinical Systems Manager ensures clinical applications support patient care, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and organizational goals. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops and maintains a strong team environment between clinical departments and Information Services.
  • Provides leadership and mentorship to Clinical Systems Analysts to promote independent functioning across supported clinical applications.
  • Supervises Clinical Systems Analysts, including performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective action as necessary.
  • Leads project teams and user groups toward common objectives.
  • Demonstrates initiative and responsibility to develop personal, leadership, and professional goals and objectives and determines methods to achieve those goals.
  • Facilitates teamwork and serves as a lead on projects and organizational initiatives.
  • Accepts and responds to change while maintaining a positive attitude.

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Work is performed in an office and healthcare environment utilizing computer systems and related technology. Must be able to move or position up to 25 pounds independently. Must be able to work in high-stress situations with frequent interruptions. Travel may be required to organizational locations as needed.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:

Frequent interaction with associates, contracted support staff, vendors, physicians, patients, families, and representatives of other healthcare organizations. Communication may occur through telephone calls, meetings, email, chat platforms, virtual meetings, fax, and other communication methods necessary to support organizational operations.

EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Knowledge of clinical information systems. Proficiency with personal computers, laptops, virtual desktops, tablets, and related hardware and software. Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:

Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred in a medical, information systems, or related field.

Experience: Three or more years of information systems management experience preferred. Experience with EHR and practice management systems, data analysis, project management, workflow design, application development, testing, and implementation preferred. Must possess strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, communication, customer service, project management, and team-building skills. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and effectively communicate with executives, peers, and outside vendors. Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or similar collaboration tools preferred.
