Your opportunity:

The Rehabilitation Sciences Sector (RSS) in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine is a world leader in the delivery of rehabilitation sciences health professional programs and research. The RSS is comprised of four essential departments: Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy (OSOT), Department of Physical Therapy (PT), Rehabilitation Sciences Institute (RSI), and the Department of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP).

As Clinical Placement Coordinator, you will work with a team of RSS Placement Coordinators, site administrators and preceptors to coordinate a wide range of clinical placement activities for all students across the RSS. You will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with clinical education sites and ensuring all placement agreements and required documentation are submitted in a timely manner in accordance with University and site-specific policy. Your strong organizational, critical thinking and relationship management skills will play an essential role in supporting the growth of our students and programs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as first point of contact with clinical education sites in determining and gathering clinical placements
  • Fostering and maintaining positive relations with stakeholders to support student placement activities and working closely with site representatives to ensure they are adequately prepared to support student placement activities
  • Determining site requirements and placement activities and coordinating rotation schedules
  • Identifying student learning and performance needs, and advising students on career-related matters
  • Developing content and facilitating workshops and seminars


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum three (3) years' of relevant experience coordinating clinical placement programs, preferably in a University or hospital setting
  • Knowledge of clinical placement policies and processes
  • Experience serving as a primary resource to students, providing detailed information on program and/or course eligibility requirements, procedures, policies, and deadlines
  • Experience coordinating placement programs and activities, program schedules, and rotation schedules
  • Experience providing administrative support to committees, including creating meeting schedules, room bookings, preparing agendas and action items, and taking meeting minutes
  • Experience developing training content and drafting written materials and correspondence
  • Experience coordinating and facilitating workshops and seminars
  • Demonstrated success with collaborating and building relationships with a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience evaluating existing programs and systems and making recommendations for change
  • Advanced technical skills in MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel, Adobe Professional, survey tools, ROSI and learning management systems
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), critical thinking, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Exceptional time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple processes and deal with multiple groups
  • Ability to work well independently, but also as part of a team
  • Ability to think critically and analytically
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and innovate, using technology
  • Ability to exercise initiative, tact, discretion, problem solving skills and to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated good judgment, attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
