Department of Clinical EffectivenessSUMMARYThe primary purpose of the CE APP Specialist is to drive quality and value-based care by leading and coordinating the development, management, and evaluation of patient care management tools (practice algorithms, patient care orders, clinical decision support tools), along with institutional and divisional initiatives related to safety and quality, in our organization to refelct best practice in the delivery of safe, effective, efficient and timely care. This individual will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to manage system of care to achieve high-quality, evidence and value-based care to all oncology patients.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIESQuality Improvement (30%) Leads or participates in quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing clinical effectiveness using project management skills and methodology.
1. Coordinates and defines quality improvement project scope, goals, deliverables, and completion time with internal/external stakeholders.
2. Collaborates with senior leadership and management to identify, monitor, and report on division and department-specific quality improvement initiatives, using data analysis and evidence-based practices.
3. Utilizes evidence-gathering and communication skills in contributing to relevant journals and other publications.
Patient Care Tool Development (40%) Demonstrates proficient skills in leading and directing the development, maintenance, and evaluation of patient care tools.
1. Utilizes clincal expertise, consensus-building and the appropriate processes to develop and enhance patient care tools (e.g. algorithms, ordering tools).
2. Evaluates patient care tools according to current standards and best practice, supervises department staff members and provides recommendations to clarify concerns, resolve issues or evaluate enhancement needs as identified.
3. Determins readiness of patient care tools and coordinates the discussion and approval through the established multidisciplinary governance process.
4. Recommends communication/education strategies for disseminateing new or revised patient care tools as indicated.
5. Demonstrates proficiency in the use of the EHR and the use of different computer applications such as Vision, Excel, Service Now, Abode, SharePoint, and other relevant applications.
Clinical Knowledge Management (20%) Demonstrates application of knowledge-based information.
1. Leverages clinical expertise and applies direct patient care expertise when participating in the development, maintenance, and evaluation of patient care tools.
2. Participates and collaborates with subject matter experts, the EHR team, internal and external stakeholders in applying knowledge-based information in the validation process of patient care management tools.
3. Ensures patient care management tools are aligned with consensus guidelines from national organizations, professional societies, and other networks.
4. Utilizes evidence-gathering and communication skills in contributing to relevant journals and other publications.
5. Particiaptes in the orientation, coaching, and evaluation of department staff members.
Data Mangaement (10%) Demonstrates understanding of the use of meaningful data to support clinical practic and quality management.
1. Coordinates the identification of key metrics, measurement, and analysis of the data related to clinical pathways in collaboration with internal and expernal analysts.
2. Communicates recommendations to appropriate stakeholders to enhance best practices.
Other duties as assigned.EDUCATION- Required: Master's degree in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant.

CERTIFICATION- Certification: Current license and/or certification as defined by the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) for an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or National Commission of Physician Assistants and Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) as requied by Physician Assistant.
- Preferred Certification: Oncology Nurse Certification (OCN) or certification in speciality practice area
WORK EXPERIENCE- Required: 4 years Clinical healthcare experience as a provider.
- Preferred Experience: Additional one to two years of program or project management experience in healthcare quiality improvement, patient safety principles, and oncology care.
