Job Description

As a Claims Team Lead, you will provide day-to-day leadership to the Claims team and support the Manager and Director in overseeing claims adjudication activities and service delivery for Life, Critical Illness, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Disability, Out-of-Country, Health, and Dental benefits. You will also mentor and develop team members, contribute to departmental leadership activities, and collaborate with internal partners to achieve service, productivity, and client experience objectives.

What you'll accomplish with us

As a Claims Team Lead, you'll be at the core of our mission. Here are the main responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and support team members by overseeing onboarding, training, and ongoing development while fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Coordinate workflow, resource allocation, and operational activities to ensure service standards, productivity targets, and client commitments are met.
  • Monitor claims performance, review operational reports, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and service delivery.
  • Assess operational trends and emerging risks, recommending and implementing solutions that support business objectives and continuous improvement.
  • Support the resolution of escalated client concerns by providing innovative solutions and exercising appropriate decision-making authority.
  • Oversee team administration activities, including system access management, attendance, vacation approvals, and workforce reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal partners on departmental initiatives, business changes, client communications, and process enhancements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on claims operations by supporting audits, legal matters, leadership projects, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve organizational goals.

  • FLMI or ACS designation from LOMA, and knowledge of industry regulations and Group Benefits practices, are considered assets.
  • High level of English proficiency, as the role involves communicating verbally and in writing with English-speaking partners across Canada on a regular basis.
