About the Role

As a Claims Specialist on our FinPro - US Agents E&O Claims Team, you will take full ownership of a diverse and dynamic caseload of US Insurance Agents and Brokers Professional Liability claims - guiding each one from initial receipt through to final resolution. This is more than a claims role; it's a platform for strategic thinking, professional growth, and meaningful impact within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and evaluate claims thoroughly, gathering and analyzing all relevant facts and documentation from inception to resolution
  • Analyze coverage, liability, and damages with precision, applying strong legal and technical knowledge to assess complex professional liability scenarios
  • Set and maintain accurate indemnity and expense reserves, ensuring financial integrity and alignment with case developments throughout the claims lifecycle
  • Develop and execute effective negotiation and resolution strategies, balancing risk, cost, and outcome to achieve optimal results for all stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legal and regulatory standards, including maintaining or obtaining required adjuster licenses across relevant jurisdictions
  • Collaborate with colleagues, insureds, and outside counsel, fostering strong working relationships and delivering exceptional customer service at every touchpoint

We Are Looking for Candidates Who Meet These Requirements:
  • Professional Liability or Claims Experience: 2-5 years of experience in claims handling, ideally in professional liability; or 1+ years in legal practice, ideally in insurance defense or coverage work
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree required; JD strongly preferred
  • Coverage, Liability & Damages Analysis: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex coverage questions, assess liability, and evaluate damage with a keen and critical eye
  • Regulatory Compliance & Licensing: Possession of, or willingness to obtain, adjuster licenses as required across relevant jurisdictions
  • Communication & Client Service: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to deliver high-quality customer service to a range of stakeholders


These Are Additional Nice to Haves:
  • Experience handling Errors & Omissions (E&O) claims specifically for insurance agents and brokers
  • Familiarity with reinsurance or the broader insurance industry landscape
  • Experience working with outside counsel and managing litigation strategies
  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving favorable claim resolutions
  • Comfort with claims management systems and technology platforms
  • Ability to manage a high-volume, diverse caseload with competing priorities


The estimated base salary range for this position in Kansas City, MO and Chicago, IL is $84,000 to $140,000. The specific salary offered for this, or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short- and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.

******Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.
