  • Adjust reserves based on claim evaluations and exposure assessments

Full Job Description

Brown & Brown is seeking a Claims Examiner II to join our growing team!

The Claims Examiner II manages designated high priority accounts and psychological and concussion claims. The Claims Examiner II serves as a mentor to those within the Claims Department.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Handle lost time and medical only claim assignments. Perform duties which include but are not limited to:

    • Maintain a claim inventory as deemed appropriate by management, approximately 50 open claims at any given time.

    • Verify, research evaluate and make recommendations on appropriate coverage on each claim, using discretionary judgment

    • Make timely contact with members, injured workers, agents, providers, attorneys, etc.

    • Investigate claim with phone interviews/emails and obtain appropriate documentation

    • Evaluate exposure and adjust reserves as required

    • Conclude claim processing in accordance with company standards

  • Handle lost time and medical only claim assignments with very minimal degree of supervision

  • Meet with members, agents, injured workers, attorneys, etc. as deemed necessary

  • Provide training and act as a mentor for members and other claims personnel

  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Claims Leader

  • Travel to annual workers compensation conference and/or attend educational seminars

  • Pursues a course of personal, professional development

  • The Claims Examiner II will maintain and uphold a high standard for customer service.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Insurance and/or Industry certification or designation (preferred)

Skills & Experience to be Successful:

  • Minimum education required

  • Proficient with Microsoft, Windows, Excel, IVOS, etc.

  • Exceptional telephone demeanor

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

  • 3 6 years 2 experience in similar position

  • Associate 2 or Bachelor 2 degree in business, financial related discipline, or Human Resources (preferred)

Pay Range

$120,000.00 - $120,000.00 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
