Civil Project Engineer | St. Louis, MO

IMEG is hiring a Civil Project Engineer in St. Louis, MO to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff on larger and high complexity projects. This role is responsible for working closely with engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients, with primary responsibilities in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of civil engineering projects.

In this role, you will help manage project budgets, train and mentor team members, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. The team supports site development, transportation, and municipal work, delivering resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

What You'll Do
  • Lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects, and collaborate with senior staff on larger and high complexity projects.
  • Perform more complex calculations based on assignment, including hydraulic calculations, traffic projections, piling or rebar calculations, and calculations to balance site earthwork.
  • Oversee and assist with water and sewer system designs for smaller private and larger municipal systems.
  • Prepare grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plans.
  • Coordinate and oversee the efforts for permit applications for a variety of municipalities.
  • Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations according to code requirements and IMEG standards.
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, communicate technical information effectively, and build and maintain client relationships through professional communication.
  • Support the execution of consulting projects by leading project planning, budgeting, and scheduling tasks, documenting design decisions and instructions from clients, and monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete and fee expended.
  • Analyze engineering problems and collaborate with senior engineers, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams to develop practical and efficient solutions that meet project goals.
  • Provide in-process design reviews of Civil Engineering design, calculations, and specifications, and implement IMEG quality control processes to ensure designs meet IMEG quality standards, industry standards and client requirements.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in Civil Engineering, contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG, and prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in all aspects of engineering work.
  • Train, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations, and identify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project Manager.

Education
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent, required

Experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 5 years of experience minimum required, 6 preferred, in the Civil Engineering and Construction industry required.
