Full Job Description
McElhanney is seeking Civil/Mechanical Technologist to join our growing Water and Wastewater Facilities division. This position is available in Victoria, Vancouver, Penticton, or Kelowna, BC. We're looking for a strong communicator with excellent design capabilities and solid experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit. As a collaborative team member, you'll contribute to a wide range of municipal engineering and water/wastewater process engineering projects. This role is ideal for someone eager to deepen their technical design expertise while helping expand and diversify our branch services. What You'll Do • Support the cost-effective, timely delivery of engineering designs, with a focus on water and wastewater treatment processes and related civil works. • Go beyond drafting - apply your understanding of materials, standards, and engineering processes to transform concepts and sketches into detailed designs using AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Revit, and other technical tools. • Prepare drawings for regulatory approvals, and assist with developing construction cost estimates and quantity take-offs. • Collaborate closely with team members to meet schedules, budgets, and quality standards. • Provide construction inspection services on selected projects. • Take on contract administration responsibilities if you bring relevant experience or certification. • Senior candidates may also manage smaller projects. • Coordinate with utilities, suppliers, clients, and other stakeholders to gather information needed to complete design work. What You'll Bring • A Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited institution (strong asset). • 5+ years of experience in a technician or technologist role. • ASTTBC registration as a technician or technologist. • Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit. • Ability to process survey and GIS data into base drawings. • Experience preparing quantity take-offs and construction estimates. • Ability to create Civil 3D surfaces and pipe networks. • Strong skills in developing and interpreting drawings, including process schematics, site plans, and general arrangement drawings. • Knowledge of system/process hydraulics and water/wastewater treatment processes. What Can We Offer You? The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $115,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual's education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting.
