The major duties of the Chief of Staff position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Implementing and directing law enforcement and regulatory programs, administrative programs, policy development, training, recruitment, budget, manpower, and logistical/technical support.
- Assists in the execution of all administrative matters pertaining to PGA and serves as a key advisor on law enforcement, regulatory, administrative and policy issues impacting the mission of ATF.
- Exercises delegated authority to manage Directorate programs that provide support services to the Bureau.

QualificationsTo qualify for this position at the
GS-15 grade level, candidates must also have at least one year of
specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level
GS-14 by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume.
Specialized experience must include all of:- Analyzing, evaluating and improving program effectiveness and prepares detailed reports; AND
- Developing and conducting short- and long-range strategic planning and provide recommendations for improvement.
