Overview

The Chief of Staff with our AI Experiences, Microsoft Edge team will serve as a force multiplier for the Corporate Vice President, Edge and the Edge Leadership Team. This role sits at the intersection of business operations, people rhythms, product strategy, and leadership effectiveness. The Chief of Staff will lead the translation of strategic priorities into operating mechanisms, decision forums, team rhythms, and measurable follow-through, as well as contribute to product and organizational strategy.

This is a high-leverage role for someone who combines operational excellence with genuine product fluency, business and financial acumen, and sound judgment in complex organizational matters. The person will be a trusted advisor, an execution engine, and a connective force across Edge and its partners.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.

Responsibilities
  • Translate product and business priorities into execution plans, clear accountability, and cross-team operating mechanisms.
  • Run the Edge leadership operating rhythm: leadership meetings, business reviews, planning checkpoints, decision forums, and follow-through.
  • Connect strategy to how the organization behaves - what it measures, how it prioritizes, how decisions get made - using lightweight mechanisms, trackers, and AI-assisted workflows rather than added process.
  • Drive people and organizational priorities: talent planning, team health, leadership effectiveness, culture and morale, and sensitive people or process issues.
  • Shape executive communications and prepare the CVP and Edge Leadership Team for SLT reviews, Town Halls, kickoffs, and demo showcases with crisp agendas, pre-reads, and decision framing.
  • Lead special projects that demand structured problem solving, cross-functional coordination, and executive synthesis.
  • Own annual and quarterly OPEX, COGS, and headcount planning with Finance and HR, driving investment tradeoffs, forecasting, spend tracking, and cost efficiency while protecting critical bets.
  • Directly manage and have responsibility for a business management and program management team and will be responsible for their growth and delegating responsibility appropriately.

  • Product intuition and curiosity: ability to understand why a strategy matters, where it may break down, and what signals indicate real progress.
  • Ability to be both trusted operator and strategic thought partner: practical, low-ego, direct, and comfortable pushing for clarity when the organization is drifting.
  • Fluency using AI tools to scale operational, analytical, and communications work.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements as required for this role.


Business Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $277,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $165,600 - $303,600 per year.
