This new full-time position will help implement and manage the technical infrastructure for our modern and purpose-built broadcast studios, voice booths, video editing bays, and content creation spaces.
This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys delivering solutions and supporting high-performing teams. Involving both technical and collaborative work, the Chief Engineer will help manage moving into new broadcasting studios as well as the ongoing technical planning, operations and maintenance of the studios and related systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc. The Chief Engineer supervises a small team, works onsite, and provides 24-7 on-call support as well as rotating weekend coverage.
It's an exciting time for Maine Public as we are moving into our new Portland facility and navigating major transformation in how we serve our statewide audiences across radio, television, and digital platforms. The Chief Engineer will play an important role in supporting our team during this transition.
Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in broadcasting engineering, technology, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience; five years' related experience; demonstrated maintenance and repair of studios; experience in studio design, radio production, broadcasting, and computer systems; excellent interpersonal skills plus clear and professional communication skills; knowledge of all applicable FCC rules and regulations required.
Preferred Experience: Supervising staff, training, budget development, negotiating with and managing vendors.
