Full Job Description
What this job involves:

The Chief Engineer shall be responsible for all mechanical and electrical operations, maintenance, plumbing, keying, lighting, life safety, and energy management within the facility and supervision of technicians.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Assign work to subordinates utilizing CMMS to maintain building operations;
  • Provide Quality Control services for the work of subordinates and subcontractors to ensure maximum efficiency, economy, and quality of work performed;
  • Perform diagnostic and repairs on building systems;
  • Perform diagnostics and repairs on high and low voltage systems and equipment, including Uninterrupted Power Supply, (UPS), and Power Distribution Unit, (PDU);
  • Perform HVAC, plumbing, electrical and life safety system repairs;
  • Prepare work schedules;
  • Maintain records and prepare required reports;
  • Train, or arrange for training of, Contractor employees in the proper maintenance of building systems;
  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance and repair work on a daily basis to provide on-time delivery of BSR, TWO, and IRO services;
  • Prepare and issue solicitations for the Contractor as necessary for the acquisition of goods and services in support of the contract requirements;
  • Administer the CMMS requirements daily;
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and project tracking software;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required in response to emergency situations. Shall be available for emergency contact via cell phone twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week.


Required Qualifications:
  • Have completed formal vocational/technical training in maintenance / mechanical / electrical related work;
  • Have at least three years of experience within the last five years in a supervisory capacity for an operation and maintenance program with HVAC, Elevator/Escalator, Electrical and General Maintenance Mechanics in a single building of comparable size and complexity;
  • The Chief Engineer must possess a valid stationary engineer's license at least equivalent to a Class 3 Steam Engineer (DC) or First Grade Engineer (MD) as well as demonstrate competency in other disciplines such as HVAC, plumbing and/or electrical through a combination of education, professional registration and experience;
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of engineering and building systems;
  • Ability to read, review, and understand blueprints;
  • Experience in managing a data center to include Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), Power Distribution Units (PDUs) and back-up generators.

Estimated compensation for this position:

100,000.00 - 136,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
