Qualifications

• Holds a 3rd Class Motor Certificate of Competency.
• Certified in Marine Emergency Duties.
• Possesses Transport Canada Marine Medical certification.
• Trained in Marine Advanced First Aid and CPR.
• Completed WHMIS.
• Holds a Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate.
• Brings 4-7 years of relevant marine engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Establish proper engine room watchkeeping and develop appropriate Standing and Night Orders.
• Implement and maintain the vessel’s maintenance program in line with regulations and manufacturer specifications.
• Monitor, inspect, and report on the performance and repair of all critical machinery and electrical equipment.
• Assign tasks, supervise, train, and conduct performance appraisals for engine room personnel.
• Enforce safety protocols on hazardous tasks and ensure all safety procedures are followed.
• Maintain accurate vessel documentation, including engine room logbook, Oil Record Book, and machinery survey reports.
• Prepare and submit management and performance reports while ensuring on-board supplies and bunkers are sufficient.
