Overview

Join us as a Chemist and see how your variety of testing, sample preparation make a difference and how critical it is to helping us deliver on our purpose and achieve our goals.

Salary: $75,000 - $95,000 yr DOE

Responsibilities
• Analyze composites - Physical and chemical
• Operation of analytical equipment such as ICP- MS, ICP- OES, XRF, ONH, CS, OES, XRD, powder characterization.
• Managing the calibration of glass wares and the instruments and maintenance, cleaning and checking of equipment
• Coordinating with the other technicians in the team to carry out work as per the planning schedule
• Manage verification and calibration of instruments

Skills / Qualifications

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not supervise staff.

Qualifications
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, general computer skills
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written)
• Ability to read and understand ASTM, ISO, AMS, etc., specifications and specific customer standards and procedures.

Education and/or Experience
• Minimum BS in Chemistry and or equivalent 5 yrs experience in related field
• Prior knowledge of optical microscopes and image analysis systems
• Chemical laboratory experience highly desirable

Language Skills
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating, and maintenance SOP's, customer testing specifications, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills
• Strong applied math skills (arithmetic, algebra)

Equipment
• Standard office equipment and computers
• Analytical equipment
• Cut off saws, sanders, and shears

Physical Demands
• Frequency of required physical force: Occasional (moderate).
• Lifting requirements: lifting 50 lbs. sporadically.
• Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically using safe technique with a partner.
• Work is performed indoors.
• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
