Full Job Description
Responsible for supporting and optimizing manufacturing processes involving chemical formulations, coatings, adhesives, polymers, resins, and related materials. This role focuses on process improvement, product quality, cost reduction, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams including Operations, Quality, R&D, Supply Chain, and EHS to drive operational excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and validate manufacturing processes for chemical products and materials.
  • Analyze production data to identify opportunities for improving yield, quality, efficiency, and cost.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to chemical processes, raw materials, and equipment.
  • Support new product introductions by developing scalable manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct process capability studies, root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with Quality to investigate customer complaints and internal nonconformances.
  • Prepare and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and engineering reports.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Evaluate and qualify new raw materials, suppliers, and process changes.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ISO, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in risk assessments, process hazard analyses (PHA), and safety improvement projects.
  • Support equipment selection, installation, validation, and commissioning.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to production personnel.
  • Work closely with R&D during product development and commercialization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with polymers, resins, adhesives, coatings, chemicals, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of chemical process engineering principles.
  • Experience with process optimization and statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • English proficiency (written and verbal).
