Overview

Join our team as a day shift, full-time, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Charge Registered Nurse in Westwood, NJ.

Responsibilities

  • The NICU Charge Nurse serves as the clinical and operational leader for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit during the assigned shift, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, family-centered care to critically ill and high-risk newborns.
  • This role provides direct oversight of daily patient care operations, staff coordination, resource allocation, patient flow, and clinical decision-making while serving as the primary clinical resource for the interdisciplinary team.
  • The Charge Nurse partners with the Nurse Manager/ Director of Women's Services, neonatologists, obstetric providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and ancillary departments to promote evidence-based practice, regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and exceptional patient experiences. Responsibilities include coordinating admissions, transfers, and discharges; responding to neonatal emergencies and high-risk deliveries; mentoring and coaching nursing staff; ensuring appropriate staffing and productivity; supporting performance improvement initiatives; and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, patient safety, and continuous professional development.
  • The Charge Nurse functions as a role model for clinical excellence and leadership while promoting the mission, vision, and values of Pascack Valley Medical Center.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:
  • Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university, or be a graduate of an approved RN program
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience
  • New Jersey Professional Registered Nurse
  • NRP Instructor Certification
  • STABLE Certification
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care

Preferred Job Requirements:
  • BSN
  • STABLE Support Instructor

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
