The Channel Director, Regional Grocery and Retail is accountable for all Operating Plan objectives in its channel, including deployment and execution against identified organizational priorities. The Director will be directly responsible for delivering our financial plan, key growth initiatives, trade funding, category leadership, and retail (in-store) execution through retail across our Regional Banners.

Additionally, this role also establishes in consultation with the account management teams, retail objectives that contribute toward achievement of availability objectives. They will be responsible for the engagement, development and growth of its direct reports.

*This role is a key member of the Canada One Demand team, reporting to the General Manager, Mars Food Canada. As a member of the One Demand Team takes an enterprise approach and contributes to the development and execution of the unit's overall strategy and results.

What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably a BA/BS in Marketing or Business Administration, Sales or related fields.
  • MBA or other graduate degree is an asset.
  • 10+ years plus experience in a top FMCG/consumer products with a strong Sales and Category background.
  • 5+ years of People Leadership experience.
  • People leadership of cross-functional and remote team(s) with demonstrated ability to build capability, develop talent and engage associates.
  • Experience being a member of a Sales Leadership Team and/ or leading a large-scale strategic initiative, requiring enterprise accountability and strategic thought leadership.
  • Experience in areas such as (but not exclusive to): Strategic National Accounts, Customer Marketing, Category Leadership, SRM, Supply and Digital and involvement in varied sales situations.
  • Proven ability to leverage strategic agility and perspective to develop trend-based strategies which translate into sales and business results.
  • Strong track record of developing and executing a sales vision and strategies with the ability to inspire and lead a sales team/matrix organization to deliver business results consistently.
  • Bilingualism in English/French is a strong asset.


What will be your key responsibilities?
  • The Channel Director develops and deploys customer business plans and business process improvements consistent with segment sales strategies and objectives. Lead the development and delivery of the Channel short- and long-term sales strategies at the channel and with retail.
  • Drive the customer agenda, building strong and sustainable relationships with key customers focused on delivering shopper, channel and category centric solutions which accelerate customer engagement.
  • Responsible for recruiting, retaining and developing a high performing capable engaged senior sales team and a strong talent pipeline which effectively supports strategy development and deployment and delivers business results.
  • As part of the broader OD Leadership Team... motivate, engage and inspire the wider sales team to deliver against the sales priorities and towards a common vision and achievement of both the sales and the units' strategy.
  • Works closely with and influences all functions and in particular with Category units and Supply to ensure the needs of shoppers, trade partners and customers, are brought into functional strategic plans and business and channel targets are achieved.
  • Plays a critical role in the unit's One Demand Team with joint accountability for shaping and implementing the unit's strategy and leading the wider business to success.
  • Establishes a wide sales director community across the FSLT (One Mars Canada) with relevant stakeholders to enable, accelerate, embed knowledge and share best practice.
