Full Job Description
TITLE: Certified Nurse-Midwife

DEPARTMENT: Grant Regional Community Clinic

POSITION STATUS/HOURS: Full-time, salaried/exempt, benefit eligible position; Schedule includes 4 clinic days including one evening shift and administrative time. Clinic is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

REPORTS TO: President/CEO

JOB SUMMARY:

The Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) will provide care throughout many stages, including prenatal, pregnancy, labor and delivery, postpartum, and gynecological services. The CNM will collaborate with the physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals and is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and/or referral of patients in accordance with appropriate Wisconsin statutes and federal regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform/assist with routine diagnostic procedures including, but not limited to, injections, immunizations, suturing, and insertion of implantable birth control.
• Elicit a personal medical history; perform an appropriate physical examination and record pertinent data in the patient's medical record.
• Order laboratory studies and/or imaging tests as needed.
• Provide routine office-based obstetric and gynecological procedures.
• Provide counseling on contraception, family planning, and sexual health.
• Provide health maintenance and disease prevention.
• Perform evaluation and treatment procedures necessary to ensure appropriate response to life-threatening emergencies.
• Assist in the delivery of services to patients by reviewing and monitoring treatment and therapy plans; and seek physician intervention when necessary.
• Facilitate referral of patients to other appropriate community healthcare facilities, agencies, and resources.
• Participate in continuing personal education.
• Conform to appropriate infection control policies when in contact with patients, blood, and body fluids (i.e., practice good Universal Precautions).
• Responsible for documenting patient info in the electronic medical record (EPIC).
• Write prescriptions for medications, according to state regulation and practice protocol.
• Promote positive health behaviors and self-care skills through education and/or counseling.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Nurse-Midwife license in the state of Wisconsin. Graduate degree in Nurse-Midwifery from an ACME-accredited program and Nursing from an accredited school. EPIC experience a plus. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Exceptional customer service skills. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. Ability to multitask and solve problems. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills required. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
