Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee construction engineering administration and inspection
  • Plan, organize, and develop project-specific guidelines for team members
  • Ensure compliance of projects with Client standards
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities
  • Maintain strong professional relationships to support current and future projects
  • Prepare proposals and cost estimates for new initiatives
  • Conduct reviews of technical work and reports by team members
  • Manage projects to meet established schedules and budgets
  • Perform periodic site inspections

Full Job Description
We are currently searching for an experienced CEI Senior Project Engineer to support our Southeast Region located in Pensacola, FL.

To be considered for this position, applicants musthave, at minimum, a Civil Engineering degree.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead with confidence: Direct construction engineering administration and inspection programs.
  • Drive success: Plan and organize team workflows; develop and refine project-specific policies, methods, and procedures.
  • Ensure excellence: Review programs for compliance with client standards and deliver top-tier results.
  • Shape the future: Identify and pursue new opportunities while fostering strong client partnerships for ongoing and future projects.
  • Be the expert: Prepare proposals and cost estimates, review technical work and reports, and provide guidance to team members.
  • Own the outcome: Manage projects to meet schedules and budgets, with periodic site visits to ensure everything is on track.


What you need to have:

  • Civil Engineering degree
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida
  • 6 years of progressive experience in Major Road and Bridge Construction
  • Familiarity with FDOT Policies and Procedures, (District 3 is a plus)
  • FDOT Advanced MOT Certification
  • Attend the CTQP Quality Control Manager course and pass the examination
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal guidelines may differ from state-specific guidelines.
  • If applicable to the position, a post offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role.
  • Valid driver's license.
