Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise to manage one or more national programs in order to help to detect and prevent terrorists and instruments of terror from entering/exiting the U.S. Apply for this exciting opportunity to direct programs that strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security. This position starts at a salary of $125,158.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to$162,708.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $162,708.00 GS-13Step 10).
Salary above includes Special Rate for Customs and Border Protection Officer positions in the Washington-Baltimore-Arlington, DC-MD-VA-WV-PA locality pay area.
The Systems Enforcement Analysis and Review (SEAR) Division within OFO is responsible for admissibility analysis and reporting; acting as a conduit between the field, headquarters, and other stakeholders. SEAR supports OFO's Frontline and Executive Leadership by critically analyzing admissibility guidance and enforcement activity through direct field engagement and system enhancements to improve field operations.
Duties of the position may include:
- Overseeing the compilation of data for compliance, conducting daily and weekly audits of case processing, and coordinating with Field Offices to address case process and reporting from all available sources such as intelligence reports and various databases.
- Serving as the subject matter expert on Unified Secondary (USEC) and Unified Processing (UPRO) system and coordinating with internal stakeholders within CBP in developing a multi-component enforcement processing system
- Providing clarifying guidance surrounding admissibility case processing to Field Offices.
- Developing regularly recurring reports for OFO Executive leadership providing context behind trends inferred from admissibility data.
- Collaborating other OFO directorates and CBP components (e.g., Congressional, Public Affairs, U.S. Border Patrol, and Office of the Commissioner) to ensure various taskings are complete, accurate, and returned to the requestor on time.

- Firearm Requirement-This position requires that the incumbent meet initial and continuing qualifications in the use of firearms as outlined in the Gun Control Act of 1968, amended by the Lautenberg Amendment of 1996. QualificationsExperience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
- Conducting prearrival targeting and intelligence vetting of persons, conveyances, and merchandise enroute to the United States using law enforcement databases, intelligence systems, and open-source information.
- Identifying known or potential terrorists and instruments of terror, criminals, smuggling tactics, techniques, and procedures used by transnational criminal organizations, and other threats to U.S. borders and national security.
- Briefing and regularly disseminating relevant information and intelligence concerning trends/patterns and particular persons, merchandise, and conveyances traveling through U.S. ports of entry to all levels of management and front-line personnel to enable admissibility and enforcement decisions.
- Continually collecting, evaluating, and validating information, facts, and evidence necessary to properly assess risk and make decisions related to the full scope of issues applicable to the entry of persons and goods to the U.S.

The customs and border protection officer mandatory separation provisions of 5 USC 8425 do not apply to an individual first appointed as a customs and border protection officer before July 6, 2008.
