Summary:

A Category Manager II at Pacific Seafood is a key role on our Procurement team supporting efforts of the overall strategy, growth, and performance of the category. This position involves strategy, analytics, and interdepartmental collaboration and is ideal for someone who has strategic skills, leadership skills, and is detail-orientated.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Marketing Strategy Management:
  • Budget and create the sales and execution plan for the represented category, covering various aspects such as market segments, product forms, pricing, and costs.
  • Drive category placements for all items within the category and eliminate unprofitable items.
  • Communicate changing market conditions, develop price forecasts, and provide weekly talking points for the sales team.

Supply Chain & Procurement Management:
  • Responsible for maintaining supply for the category and sourcing from outside vendors when needed.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategic sourcing and procurement processes managed throughout the sales network.
  • Assist with negotiations with vendors for the procurement of materials, supplies, equipment, and services.
  • Manage supplier service levels, quotations, product projections, fill rates, and quality control issues.
  • Develop new supply sources and group programs when assigned and where vendors or item offerings are inadequate.

Operations & Compliance:
  • Monitor sales for margin accuracy. Attend business reviews with top key accounts, as needed.
  • Visit distribution and processing facilities periodically to facilitate the growth and strategic direction of the category.
  • Review monthly financial and management reports related to the category.
  • Follow and enforce good safety practices.


What you bring to Pacific Seafood

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Marketing, Business Administration, or Business Management; and 4 years of experience as a product category or sales manager. Experience must include the following, which may have been gained concurrently:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of category management including best practices.
  • Proven track record of building successful, sustainable categories.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Inventory Control, Project Management, and Vendor Management processes.
