Category Manager

Role

WHAT YOU'LL DO:


CoolIT Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Category Manager to join our Calgary team! In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic sourcing of materials, supplier performance and contract management, global supplier engagement, and vendor master management. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of the strategic sourcing process, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to drive data-based decision-making. Experience in engineering, prototype build, NPI, and manufacturing environment is highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic sourcing of materials (e.g., parts, components, and assemblies) that reflects the needs of the business with alignment to SCM Sourcing Strategies, quality requirements, including QMS documentation, regulatory, and financial frameworks.
  • Leveraging market intel data analysis to drive decision making.
  • Supplier performance, contract management, Supplier Relationship and Performance Management (SRPM) including supplier scorecards, addressing cost of poor performance, executing cost recovery activities, contract execution and management, etc.
  • Global supplier engagement with ownership of the Supplier Lifecycle (SLM), from identification through to supplier offboarding.
  • Vendor master management in the ERP (NetSuite).
  • Drive supplier negotiations creating and/or renewing supply agreements that deliver cost savings, avoidance, mitigate risk, secure supply, and meet lead times, etc.
  • Establish and maintain internal customer relationships with teams including Finance, Supplier Quality, Engineering, etc.
  • Define respective strategic sourcing strategies by category to drive business strategy and operational objectives.


Who You Are

Basic Qualifications:


  • Post secondary in Supply Chain Management, Business, and/or Engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, category and supplier management, and supply chain management.
  • Working experience with a diverse supplier base, leading supplier performance management.
  • Development and execution of category sourcing strategies.
  • Experience in RFX from supplier selection through to contract award.
  • Ownership and negotiation of MSAs.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within an engineering, prototype build, NPI, and manufacturing environment.
  • Moderate level experience in NetSuite (updating data and transacting).
  • SCMP or CPSM certified.
  • Aptitude in understanding technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in training and mentorship in best practice in sourcing, RFX, MSAs, etc.
  • Experience with global suppliers outside of Canada.

  • Ability to remain current with new technology, new business models, supplier base manufacturing capabilities, general market intelligence.
