About the Role

Alcoa is seeking a Casthouse Scrap Supervisor to lead critical scrap management operations within our Massena NY facility. This role plays a key part in optimizing material utilization, controlling costs, and ensuring accurate inventory management across casthouse scrap streams. In this role you will directly oversee the end-to-end management of scrap, dross, and off-grade materials, ensuring efficient flow, accurate tracking, and continuous process improvement. Additional key responsibilities include:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to hourly employees across billet, rod, sow, scrap, and dross operations

  • Lead safety initiatives including incident investigations, Human Performance Toolbox meetings, SSOP compliance, and housekeeping standards within the shipping area

  • Oversee the administrative and operational aspects of the shipping function

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce pack/load SSOPs for billet, rod, sow, scrap, and dross

  • Manage and maintain scrap tub quality, including repair, replacement, and disposal

  • Monitor consumption, generation, receipts, and inventory levels to ensure accuracy and efficiency

  • Audit levels and adjust plans as needed while ensuring materials are properly identified by alloy and weight

  • Plan and coordinate pre-staging of scrap for furnace consumption, including use of out-of-spec materials

  • Develop and maintain storage layouts, including signage and defined storage lanes

  • Manage relationships and material flow with internal and external suppliers

  • Develop and manage trigger points for commercial metal procurement to ensure alignment with production demands and inventory optimization

  • Interface with Production Control and Ingot Supervisors to align alloy scheduling and scrap consumption

  • Collaborate with Knoxville Metal Reclamation to increase scrap utilization

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize usage and reduce operating costs

  • Train supervisors and operators on charge calculation techniques (ACES)

  • Manage dross segregation, sales, approvals for returned material, and consumption of resultant RSI

Working Environment:

  • Onsite within an industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Frequent collaboration with hourly and salaried employees working varying shifts.

  • Routine presence in production areas, which may involve exposure to noise, extreme heat/cold, and industrial equipment.

  • Standard business schedule with occasional flexibility required to support operational priorities.

  • Model Alcoa’s safety values and champion a safety‑first culture.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or a GED from an accredited institution is required.

  • Experience with inventory control and process improvement within a manufacturing or industrial setting.

  • 1 62 years of experience as a supervisor or team lead.

  • Solid understanding of Casthouse facilities, the process, materials, and knowledge of casting processes and operations preferred but not required.

  • Demonstrated successes and ability in providing leadership, achieving results and driving change, required.

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools and collaboration platforms.

  • Effective communication (written and verbal), critical‑thinking and problem‑solving capability.

  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively and on an on-call basis when emergencies occur.

Base Salary: 76,700 - 115,400 USD annually

Actual salaries will vary and will be based on a range of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies in conjunction with multiple components of the Employee Total Rewards Package.
