Have you ever dreamed of being a part of a team that provides exceptional care? Help care for our patients in a unique role as a cross-trained nurse in two distinct units, complex surgery and concierge medicine. On 8E you will be working with chest tubes, epidurals, PCA's, tracheotomies, telemetry, various cardiac drips, and mixing and administering pulmonary hypertension medications. On 6B Rollins, our concierge unit, you will care for a variety of medical/surgical and telemetry patients.

  • Number of Beds: 24 (8E); 6 (6B Rollins)
  • Patient Population/Typical Diagnoses:


8E: Lung transplants, lung abnormalities and malignancy, esophageal and gastric obstructions and perforations, AAA or thoracic aneurysms, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac valve repairs, and peripheral arterial disease

6B Rollins: Medical, general surgery, and telemetry

  • Targeted Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:3-4 (8E); 1:2 (6B Rollins)


8E is the only acute care unit in the Emory Healthcare system with "Patient Excellence" scores above 90th percentile for the past four-consecutive years and is a winner of the Beacon award.

6B Rollins is a concierge unit where in addition to nursing services, patients have additional access to amenities which include a personal chef and larger upgraded rooms.

RN Clinician Educator Regarded as clinical expert and role model in application of the nursing process and evidence-based practice to manage the complex care needs of specific patient populations.

Leadership & Team Collaboration
  • Serves as a resource person to physicians, nurses, patients, and family members.
  • Applies principles of adult learning to plan and conduct educational sessions to promote staff development, student competence, and positive patient/family outcomes.
  • Role models expert communication skills to colleagues through example.
  • Demonstrates foresight regarding the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes based on intuition and experience.
  • Is recognized as an expert clinician and a leader within their area of specialty.
  • Completes employee conference, risk management and unit management reports within specified time frames.

  • Based on needs assessments, assists CNS and UD to provide assurance that staff have opportunities to acquire necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to fulfill role expectations.

Leadership & Team Collaboration
  1. Coordinates unit based clinical orientation program for new staff, students and preceptors.
  2. Works with preceptors to individualizes unit orientation.
  3. Assists departmental or unit teams in the developing annual competency checklists.
  4. Under direction of the CNS and Unit Director, assists with meeting the education and training needs of staff.
  5. Assumes a staff level leadership and resource role with the interdisciplinary team.
  6. Contributes to evaluating the use of resources and to cost containment activities.
  7. Assists with the development of clinical leadership and critical thinking skills in others.

Quality Improvement & Professional Development
  1. Utilizes patient and staff satisfaction feedback as a factor in designing refining and revising education programs.
  2. Respects and maintains confidential information.
  3. Meets all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments.
  4. Achieves points and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) point system to maintain position.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
  • Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Experience:
  • 2 years of recent nursing experience AND a minimum of 2 years of experience in the area of concentration.

Licensure:
  • A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.

Certification:
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS may be required for certain departments, post hire
  • Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty
  • Must complete UNE criteria requirements within nine (9) months of promotion or hire, including completion of Enhancing your Communication HLC#6488. PLAN:
  • Meets all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments.
  • Completion of VIP or EBP Project.
  • Achieves points/electives and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) point system to maintain position.
  • Completion of formal preceptor training workshop.

Preferred Qualifications / Education:
  • MSN or DNP Certification: Nursing certification preferred
