Full Job Description
As Director of Finance, you will be a trusted strategic partner to the General Manager and hotel leadership team, turning financial insight into stronger performance, greater profitability, and long-term success. You will lead all accounting and finance functions, safeguard robust internal controls, ensure compliance with company policies and brand standards, and deliver timely, accurate reporting that drives confident decisions.

KEY SKILLS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Strategy & Business Partnership

  • Advise the General Manager and leadership team on financial performance, profitability, and business strategy.
  • Lead budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, and financial plans supporting occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and GOP goals.
  • Partner with operational leaders to control costs, improve efficiencies, and achieve financial objectives.

Accounting, Reporting & Compliance

  • Oversee accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll review, general ledger, cash management, fixed assets, and reconciliations.
  • Deliver accurate, timely financial statements, owner reports, cash flow reporting, and supporting analyses.
  • Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, brand standards, regulations, audits, and tax requirements.

Leadership & Financial Operations

  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, banking relationships, capital expenditures, reserves, and future cash needs.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop the accounting team through clear accountability, cross-training, and succession planning.
  • Present financial insights to ownership and corporate leadership to support sound operational decisions.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting and at least 5 years in financial leadership, or comparable progressive hotel finance experience.
  • Extensive background in budgeting, forecasting, P&L reporting, account reconciliation, and strong analytical skills for data interpretation and problem-solving.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, POS/PMS systems, and proven leadership and communication abilities for team development and presentations.

PROPERTY INFORMATION:
Formerly the headquarters of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, the building features a dual-branded hotel with a 135-room Hilton Garden Inn and a 215-room Canopy by Hilton. A National Historic Landmark dating back to 1904, the property is located in the heart of downtown Chicago across the street from Willis Tower. Together the Dual branded property has a total of 350 rooms and suites. The first floor will feature lobbies, amenities, and conference rooms. The existing 15th floor will be modified with its roof removed in its entirety to build a new 16th floor space with an independent restaurant / lounge. The project will also consist of renovating six elevators, as well as the addition of a seventh.
