Inside the RoleThe Vehicle Exterior Engineering group is a member of the Product Engineering department and works to develop and design the primary vehicle cab structures such as the body in white, hoods, bumpers, fairings, side extenders, steps, mudflaps, and what you usually see visually when you encounter a large truck driving on the road.
The position is within the Vehicle Exterior Cabin Structures and Exterior Lighting Team. Responsibilities for this role will include development of cabin floor components and assemblies in support of strategic project initiatives, quality improvements in support customer needs and cross functional interactions with other engineering and commercial business units to facilitate successful implementation of designs. Experience designing and supporting the tooling and manufacturing of large stampings is critical for this role. The development of cabin structural components is a highly collaborative exercise between our internal design/manufacturing teams and our external supplier partners.
As needed and dependent on team work load this role may flex to support other team responsibilities such as exterior lighting, camera integration or mirror development. Previous experience with any of these systems will be beneficial to any candidate.

Position offers a starting salary range of $86,000 to $110,000 USD Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience

This position is on the Cab-in-White and Lighting/Mirrors/Cameras Team where we support DTNA Engineering's goal to engineer the best in class trucks by;

- Develop vehicle components and systems. Apply engineering and CAD principles to create designs that are reliable, serviceable, energy efficient, and competitive.
- Apply sound engineering judgment to develop engineered solutions across the design lifecycle and to support the manufacturing plants, quality assurance, and the service department.
- Develop specifications and concepts to support future vehicles projects. Maintain and organize these solutions, document their use, and keep them up to date.
- Interface with our multi-tier suppliers and other groups such as the Vehicle Engineering dept, Validation, Analysis, Compliance, Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing, to ensure conformance of designs to specifications, customer expectations, engineering practices and government regulations.
Knowledge you Should Bring- A demonstrated history of driving excellence in execution
- Understanding of DTNA Engineering applications and processes
- A Bachelors (or higher) degree in engineering (mechanical preferred)
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Creating effective and persuasive presentations
- Experience with CAD software. Experience in CAD design of structures, complex assemblies, and/or class A surfaces.
- An understanding of basic vehicle design principles.
- Solid experience using Windows and Microsoft Office suite.
Exceptional Candidates Might Have- Familiarity with PAR Processes
- Experience leading small teams
- Strong independence in managing multiple assigned projects.
- Experience with manufacturing processes, and Spec Requirements tools such as ELM.
- Experience with design specifications, components, and industry safety practices.
- Experience working with people responsible for Engineering Systems, Feature requirements, Software, Architecture, and Functional Safety.
