Position DescriptionThe Senior Buyer is responsible for leading procurement activities and developing sourcing strategies for assigned categories or supplier portfolios. This role drives cost optimization, supplier performance, and supply continuity while aligning procurement initiatives with broader business objectives. As a senior individual contributor, the position serves as a key partner to operations, finance, and engineering, providing strategic input and ensuring best-in-class sourcing practices.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned categories to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance
- Manage strategic supplier relationships, including performance reviews, negotiations, and long-term agreements
- Lead complex negotiations for pricing, contracts, and terms to achieve measurable cost savings and risk mitigation
- Analyze market trends, commodity pricing, and supplier capabilities to inform sourcing decisions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with planning, engineering, and operations to support new product introductions (NPI) and demand changes
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and drive corrective actions to address quality, delivery, or cost issues
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across procurement processes and supplier base
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior buyers or procurement team members
- Support risk management efforts, including supplier diversification and contingency planning
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements
Required Education & QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management
- Proven experience developing sourcing strategies and managing supplier portfolios
- Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated ability to drive cost savings and favorable contract terms
- Advanced understanding of supply chain dynamics, inventory management, and procurement best practices
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and strong Excel/data analysis skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and operate at a strategic level
- Experience with supplier performance management and risk mitigation strategies preferred

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or related field preferred
