Full Job Description
Position Summary
The Buyer supports Flowserve's Lynchburg operations by managing the procurement of materials, components, and services required to support manufacturing and production schedules. This role works closely with supply chain, planning, operations, quality, and engineering teams to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant sourcing of parts and services for actuator and valve automation products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchase materials, components, tooling, and services needed to support production
  • Place and manage purchase orders in alignment with demand, inventory targets, and production schedules
  • Monitor supplier performance for on-time delivery, quality, cost, and responsiveness
  • Resolve supplier issues related to shortages, late deliveries, pricing, quality, and order changes
  • Work with planning and operations to maintain material availability and support schedule adherence
  • Support inventory management efforts to reduce excess and obsolete stock
  • Obtain quotes, compare suppliers, and negotiate pricing and lead times when appropriate
  • Collaborate with quality and engineering on nonconforming materials and corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data, item masters, and procurement records in ERP systems
  • Support supplier development, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies, ethics, and applicable trade/regulatory requirements


Qualifications
  • United States Citizen
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 2-5 years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience preferred
  • Knowledge of manufacturing materials, supplier management, and ERP/MRP systems
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment


Preferred Skills
  • Experience supporting electromechanical manufacturing or industrial products
  • Familiarity with inventory control, demand planning, and supplier performance metrics
  • Working knowledge of Lean or continuous improvement concepts
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP systems


The pay range for this role is $68,300.11 - $102,505.33 per year.
