Senior - Quantitative Economics & StatisticsEY's QUEST practice is seeking an economist to join our team of economists and statisticians in Washington, D.C. as a senior analyst.
Your key responsibilities- Quantitatively analyze and model economic, tax, regulatory policies, or social policies, including workforce, housing, and public health initiatives
- Analyze the effectiveness of public policies and programs, with a focus on program evaluation, outcome measurement, and population-level impacts
- Conduct econometric analysis and forecasting of macroeconomic and fiscal conditions including GDP and tax revenue
- Construct economic and statistical models to estimate the economic, fiscal, and programmatic impact of policy and program interventions
- Interpret and synthesize academic research in the field of economics, public finance, and social policy domains, incorporating findings, results, and methodologies into analytic work
- Write and edit reports that translate technical quantitative analyses to broad audiences such as government officials and other participants in policy discussions
- Craft data visualizations that highlight key insights from quantitative and program evaluation analyses
Qualifications- Master's or Ph.D. in public policy / economics /public finance or related quantitative discipline
- A minimum of 3 years of related work experience, with exposure to fiscal policy, social policy, economic analysis, and program evaluation
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to apply quantitative methods in a business consulting environment
- Experience working with cross-sector datasets linking economic, health, and housing-related data
- Strong technical skills in data analysis using both Microsoft Excel (e.g., advanced Excel formulas) and coding languages such as SAS and R; familiarity with Python or other tools is a plus
- Interpersonal skills and a commitment to teamwork and the ability to direct the work of other team members
- Strong written and visual communication skills, including the ability to translate technical findings for non-technical audiences
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a team environment and deliver high-quality work under deadlines
- Willingness to travel as needed and work in a balanced hybrid working environment

- We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $104,300 to $172,200. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $125,100 to $195,700. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options.
