Full Job Description
  • This role works directly with stakeholders to define, document, and drive business requirements for technology and process changes.
This role is responsible for owning business requirements analysis and definition/documentation, facilitating cross-functional collaboration, and managing requirements through the product lifecycle, including UAT testing support.

Under limited supervision, this role formulates and defines systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. This role is expected to apply knowledge of business analysis methodologies, tools, and techniques to ensure solutions meet business needs.

Role partners closely with individuals in the business as well as IT.
  • Role Overview

The Business Analyst serves as a critical bridge between CSAA's product and business teams and EY's Guidewire development team. You will work on two parallel tracks: (1) supporting R1 SIT/UAT testing to catch and resolve defects, and (2) translating R2 product requirements into technically sufficient specifications. Your personal lines domain expertise will be foundational-you will validate that requirements are complete, unambiguous, and testable before development execution, and you will help catch defects in testing that trace back to specification gaps. You are a quality gatekeeper throughout the delivery lifecycle.

    Key Responsibilities

R1 SIT/UAT Testing Support (Immediate Priority)

Release 1 is in active SIT/UAT phase. You will immediately engage to: develop and execute SIT/UAT test cases, identify and triage defects, work with EY to resolve critical issues, understand what's broken and why (trace defects back to requirements and spec gaps), and help stabilize R1 for rollout. As a BA, you bring the business context to testing-you understand the rules and workflows, so you can validate whether defects are true product issues or misunderstandings of requirements.

Requirements Traceability & Test Case Development

Map business requirements to test cases. Ensure that requirements are testable and that test coverage reflects the actual business logic. Work with the Product Owner to validate that specs translate correctly into test scenarios. Identify gaps where requirements don't have corresponding tests.

    R2 Requirement Translation & Specification

In parallel with R1 testing, translate R2 product specifications into development-ready requirements. Work with the Product Owner to understand business intent. Ask crisp clarifying questions when specs are ambiguous. Ensure all mandatory fields, business rules, and edge cases are documented before specs go to EY.

    Pull the Thread on Ambiguity

When product teams say "it should be different than Countrywide," don't accept it as-is. Ask: What specifically is different? Why is it different? What is the business implication? What does that look like in Guidewire? Work collaboratively with product owners to surface hidden requirements and ensure specs are complete before development.

    Defect Root-Cause Analysis

When defects emerge in SIT/UAT, trace them back to their source: Is this a development error? A spec gap? A misunderstood requirement? Use this analysis to improve R2 specs. Help the team learn from R1 issues to prevent repetition.

    Team Collaboration on NexGen Delivery

Work as part of a 5-person Business Solution Architect team (currently 2 Client + 1 leader; adding 2 new Client + 1 Pricing/Earnings SME). Collaborate with the dedicated Product Owner on business logic and rules validation. Partner with EY's Guidewire delivery leadership. Participate in requirements review sessions, design discussions, and testing sign-offs.

Required Experience & Skills

Personal Lines Insurance Domain Expertise (CRITICAL)

5+ years in personal lines P&C insurance (auto, homeowners, renters, property, umbrella, or combination). You should understand product rules and rating logic, line and coverage structure, underwriting workflows, billing and claims implications, and how business decisions translate to system requirements. This is the load-bearing skill for this role.

Business Analyst / Requirements Management & Testing Background

3+ years as a BA, business systems analyst, QA analyst, or similar role. Experience with: requirements elicitation and documentation, test case development, SIT/UAT test execution, defect identification and triage, requirements traceability, working with development teams. Comfortable with tools like Jira, SmartSheets, or Excel for spec documentation. Understanding how specs translate into test scenarios and how defects trace back to spec gaps. This role also supports pricing validation and rate testing-confirming that rating logic, premium calculations, and state-specific pricing deviations are accurately reflected in the system. You will collaborate closely with the Pricing/Earnings SME to develop pricing test scenarios and validate rating outcomes across Guidewire and Rating.

Guidewire Experience (Strongly Preferred)

Prior experience with Guidewire is highly desired. What matters most is your ability to understand Auto and Property business requirements, validate them through testing, and translate them clearly for technical teams-the platform is secondary.

Communication & Collaboration

Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to listen to vague product requirements, ask clarifying questions, and document them in a form that development teams can execute against. Comfortable working in a cross-functional team environment with product managers, product owners, developers, QA, and other stakeholders.

Attention to Detail & Quality Mindset

You will help prevent defects by catching incomplete specs early AND by validating implementation through SIT/UAT testing. This requires meticulous attention to detail, the ability to spot gaps, and a commitment to quality throughout the delivery lifecycle
