Job DescriptionPosition Summary The Business Process Manager will lead the Energy Divisions Process Improvement program ("the Southland Way") by coordinating, mentoring, and empowering a network of departmental Southland Way Champions across Sales, Development, Operations, Safety, Measurement & Verification, and all other key functions in the full ESPC performance contracting project lifecycle.
Position Details- Leads, mentors, and facilitates a network of departmental Process Improvement Champions, enabling them to develop, maintain, and consistently apply best practices, processes, and tools within their respective functions.
- Drives cross-functional collaboration and alignment by optimizing end-to-end workflows, strengthening handoffs, and ensuring seamless delivery across Sales, Development, Operations, Safety, M&V. and supporting teams.
- Organizes and facilitates continuous improvement activities, including cross-Champion workshops, value stream mapping, Kaizen events, and rapid improvement initiatives to help resolve workflow constraints and enhance interdepartmental coordination.
- Partners with department leaders to evolve the process library, tools, and document management standards, ensuring information is easily accessible, consistently structured, and supports a strong culture of teamwork.
- Identifies and leads implementation of practical improvement, automation, and digital integration opportunities that reduce cycle time, rework, and risk while improving real-time visibility, communication, and collaboration.
- Defines, tracks, and reports key performance indicators related to process effectiveness and cross-functional performance, while ensuring all improvements adhere to ESPC performance guarantees, IPMVP standards, regulatory requirements, and financing covenants.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Energy Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in process improvement, operation excellence, or complex project delivery roles, with at least 2 years in construction, EPC, ESCO, or energy services environment.
- 2+ years of experience leading or coordinating cross-function teams, matrixed improvement initiatives across multi-phased project environments.
- PMP, CBAP, or additional certifications in project management, change management, or business analysis; Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
- Advanced knowledge of the ESPC project lifecycle, including sales, Investment Grade Audits, design-build execution, commission, Measurement & Verification (M&V), and performance contracting principles.
- Strong understanding of energy performance contracting environments, including ESCO operations, federal/state ESPC programs, and performance-based contracting frameworks.
- Working knowledge of IPMVP (International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol), DOE/FEMP guidelines, or similar energy efficiency standards.
- Proficiency with process mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart), data analytics (Excel, Power BI, Tableau), and file storage media (SharePoint, AutoDesk Forma).
- Highly developed analytical, strategic, and execution capabilities, balancing enterprise project objectives with continuous process improvement and collaborative delivery.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
