Position Summary

The Business Partner and Product Management Manager will lead the digital transformation of Marathon Petroleum's Natural Gas & NGL business by defining and executing the vision for a portfolio of optimization and operational intelligence products that drive measurable business value across gathering, processing, transportation, storage, and commercial operations. This leader will guide teams responsible for delivering advanced capabilities in artificial intelligence, operational intelligence, digital twins, predictive analytics, optimization and decision support, and industrial data platforms. By partnering closely with business leadership, this role will define product strategy, drive innovation, and deliver measurable business outcomes through technology investments that improve operational efficiency, asset reliability, commercial performance, and decision quality. The role serves as a strategic advisor to business leadership and plays a critical role in shaping the future of AI-enabled operations within NG&NGL.

This role will work closely with the NG&NGL Digital Operations Control Manager, as well as peers across IT and our business to effectively identify, evaluate, implement technologies that can transform our business. Additionally, this role will own the business partner relationship with first- and second-line leadership in NG&NGL across respective digital scope. Successful candidates will balance safe & reliable operations with innovation and digital transformation by bringing AI and automation to business processes while ensuring reliability and availability of our technology assets.

This role will lead technology delivery of industry leading technologies including but not limited to AI and Machine Learning, Digital Twins & Industrial Data Contextualization, Industrial Analytics, and building strong data science and engineering capabilities into software applications. This role will lead multiple cross functional product teams to build, enhance, and sustain operationally critical digital solutions while also performing medium-term planning and product vision and road mapping for Optimization capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages daily operations of the team, providing guidance, mentorship, and driving a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Oversees recruitment, development, retention, and performance to build strong talent.
  • Plans and leads low- to medium-complexity IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Ensures the availability, reliability, and security of technology systems. Collaborates with key stakeholders and internal groups to identify needs, deliver effective solutions, and support business objectives.
  • Accountable for measurable business outcomes, including operational efficiency improvements, cost reductions, production optimization, asset performance, workforce productivity, and value realization from digital investments.
  • Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of digital products and solutions-from ideation through delivery and support-by orchestrating cross-functional collaboration across development, QA, and operations to ensure timely, high-quality releases aligned with IT standards and governance. Champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation by leveraging performance metrics and user feedback to identify and act on opportunities. Embed practices that foster long-term sustainability, operational resilience, and service excellence. Proactively manage risks with a strong emphasis on cybersecurity, data integrity, and regulatory compliance.
  • Align product roadmaps with business strategy and long-term objectives, especially within enterprise and Oil & Gas industry contexts. Champion technology-driven process improvements through cloud, cybersecurity, data governance, and digital transformation initiatives that foster innovation and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Build strong business partnerships to gather, prioritize, and translate requirements into actionable digital product roadmaps aligned with both short-term needs and long-term business strategies. Serve as a bridge between business units and IT delivery, translating complex needs into initiatives, managing expectations, resolving issues, and fostering continuous engagement.
  • Oversee budgets, timelines, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of IT services. Make strategic decisions on resource allocation and contract negotiations that align with business priorities and drive transformational outcomes.
  • Act as a change agent by driving the adoption of IT solutions through strategic and structured change management programs that prioritize user experience. Provide support for tailored training and documentation to foster connection, build trust, and maximize value realization.
  • Develops customer and internal facing product development strategies that focus on user experience across multiple verticals up to an entire portfolio of products.
  • Has accountability for leading the development of product roadmaps, prioritizing feature releases, and aligning them with business objectives. Drives cross-functional collaboration to gather insights, prioritize initiatives, and plan releases effectively.
  • Works with other teams, ensures team is aligned around similar goals and objectives / cross-team prioritization. Carries out ongoing analysis of product capability themes in order to support product direction
  • Engages senior cross functional leaders and proactively addresses and resolves issues, fostering effective communication, and promoting alignment between business and operations teams, UX design, product, engineering, marketing, analytics, and customer support teams, as needed.
  • Develop and execute the NG&NGL AI product strategy, identifying opportunities to embed machine learning, generative AI, agent-based workflows, predictive analytics, and optimization models into operational and commercial processes.
  • Lead development of decision-support and optimization products that enable operators, engineers, and commercial stakeholders to make faster and higher-quality decisions through integrated operational, financial, and predictive insights.
  • Experience delivering AI, analytics, SaaS, or industrial software products
  • Experience with industrial operations, energy, manufacturing, logistics, supply chain, or asset-intensive industries preferred


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other computer-related degree required
  • Ten (10) or more years of diversified IT experience required.
  • Three (3) or more years of direct or indirect leadership experience required.
  • Experience delivering IT products or services aligned with business strategy, including oversight of project timelines and vendor relationships required.
