Full Job Description
About the role:

Samsara's Core IT team builds the systems, processes, and experiences that let every team at Samsara do its best work. As Manager, Business Operations, you'll own the budget, vendor, and hardware operations that keep the rest of Core IT running: SaaS spend and licensing, vendor management across our enterprise platforms, and the hardware and logistics program that equips every office and every new hire. You'll lead a team, partner closely with internal stakeholders, and leverage external vendors and partners to scale impact across business operations.

This role will be eligible for remote work. Relocation assistance will not be provided for this role.
You should apply if:
  • You want to impact the industries that run our world. Your work will have real-world impact: helping keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions, and keep workers safe on the job.
  • You want to build a function from the ground up. SaaS budget, vendor management, and hardware operations exist today. You'll help the team formalize scope, workflows, and outcomes
  • You're energized by our opportunity: the vision we have to digitize large sectors of the global economy requires your full focus and best efforts to bring forth creative, ambitious ideas for our customers.
  • You want to grow a team. You'll manage a small but mighty team, with room and a mandate for the function to grow from there. You'll use AI tools, vendors, and partners to help scale impact, get organized and improve operational efficiency.
  • You want colleagues who make you better. You'll work alongside people who support each other's work, push each other to think more rigorously, and share the credit when something goes well.

In this role, you will:
  • Own SaaS budget, forecasting, and license management across Core IT's enterprise platforms (Atlassian, Google Workspace, Slack, and others as we adopt them), including the app catalog, utilization tracking, the renewal calendar, and cost optimization.
  • Own vendor management for Core IT's SaaS and hardware contracts.
  • Own hardware and logistics operations across five regions: inventory forecasting, procurement, multi-region ordering, new hire equipment standards, new office buildout hardware, and the IT hardware budget.
  • Manage and develop direct reports, setting priorities across their combined scope and growing the team's capabilities and impact as the function's mandate expands.
  • Partner with Core IT's business systems analysts on requirements, process design, and systems support wherever their work touches SaaS, vendor, or hardware operations.
  • Build the operating rhythm for Business Operations: budget tracking, vendor scorecards, a renewal calendar, and the reporting that gives IT leadership real visibility into spend and vendor performance.
  • Partner with IT, Sales, and R&D leadership on the platform backlog and renewal decisions that cross team lines.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.

Minimum requirements for the role:
  • 5+ years of experience in vendor management, SaaS operations, IT business operations, or a related discipline, including experience managing enterprise software or hardware contracts end to end: negotiation, renewal, and spend tracking.
  • Experience managing people, or a demonstrated readiness to take on people management for the first time, with a clear point of view on how you'd set priorities and grow a small team.
  • Experience partnering across IT, finance, and business teams to manage budget and vendor relationships.

An ideal candidate has:
  • Experience managing hardware or IT asset operations across multiple regions.
  • Comfortable building process, reporting, and a team from scratch, in a function this early in its life.
  • Strong data management and analysis skills (Google Sheets/Excel and similar tools).
  • Experience with SaaS procurement and license optimization at a company of comparable size or complexity.

Total Rewards

At Samsara, we build for the people who keep the global economy moving. We want owners, not passengers, which is why our rewards are designed to fuel high-impact builders. Our compensation program delivers above-market total compensation through a combination of base salary, performance-based bonus/variable pay, and equity (for eligible roles) in a high-growth public company. We meaningfully differentiate pay for our top performers, who have the opportunity to earn above-market compensation that can outpace the broader market over time.

Beyond compensation, we provide the foundations that enable long-term success: a flexible, employee-led remote model, a professional development stipend, comprehensive health and parental leave plans, and more. If you're ready to build for the long term and own the outcome, your journey starts here.

Flexible Working

At Samsara, we embrace a flexible working model that caters to the diverse needs of our teams. Our offices are open for those who prefer to work in-person and we also support remote work where it aligns with our operational requirements. For certain positions, being close to one of our offices or within a specific geographic area is important to facilitate collaboration, access to resources, or alignment with our service regions.
