Job DescriptionPosition Title: Business Intelligence Solutions ManagerLocation: Dallas, Austin, AshburnYour role The Digital Realty Business Intelligence and Data Analytics team is seeking a highly skilled professional with expertise in Microsoft data warehousing and Power BI data visualization. This role requires a candidate with a Microsoft-centric background who can provide both thought leadership and technical expertise to enhance Microsoft Azure data warehouse and drive our data reporting solutions. This role with report to the Director of Business Intelligence.
The successful candidate will be actively involved in all phases of projects for our internal stakeholders, from initial analysis, strategic guidance, architecture design then provide oversight in the development and data consumption capabilities, including APIs, semantic models, and report creation. This role requires a proactive individual who can lead projects, driving them to completion and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality data solutions.
What you'll do - Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with internal stakeholders to thoroughly understand their business needs and convert these requirements into clear, actionable technical specifications.
- Solution Leadership: Offer strategic guidance in selecting the best Microsoft applications for each project, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Database Design: Assist in the design and build-out of database models that support data driven analytics.
- Power BI Expertise: Design and implement PowerBI semantic models, create interactive dashboards and reports, and provide training to enable self-service BI for end-users.
- Project Involvement: Play a key role in every aspect of the project lifecycle, from initial analysis and architecture to building or overseeing data consumption capabilities such as APIs, semantic models, and reports.
- Best Practices Implementation: Deploy best practices, standards, and optimization techniques to enhance the performance and user experience of Microsoft DWH/BI solutions.
What you'll need - Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to interact effectively with stakeholders, gaining trust while delivering Microsoft solutions that can be scaled globally.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to understand and align with short, mid, and long-term project goals, ensuring that solutions meet the diverse needs of multiple stakeholders.
- Architectural Expertise: Strong knowledge of Kimball star schema and database design, with the ability to quickly adapt and contribute to our existing Microsoft data warehouse architecture and semantic layer.
- Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with the Microsoft Business Intelligence suite, including SQL Server, PowerBI, PowerApps, and other related technologies.
To be successful you must be able to: - Data Integrity - understand how users are interacting with existing applications to pinpoint the usability weakness that are contributing to data integrity issues and provide short term and long-term solutions that will fill the gaps and support existing solutions.
- Data Management and Research - understanding of the table structures behind each application UI and how user input through the UI affects the reporting output. Ability to find gaps and issues in source system data, which then requires business team discussions on appropriate actions to be taken to fix or provide new capabilities in the warehouse.
- Vision and Perspective - needs to grasp short, mid and long-term goals and deliverables. This requires understanding the different needs/limitations of each group involved so that the right questions and solutions can be presented to the end users.
Skills and Experience: - Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in a technology-focused discipline such as Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
- Professional Experience: 6-10 years of experience in database design, data warehousing, and Business Intelligence, with a strong foundation in Microsoft technologies.
- Microsoft BI Expertise: Over 5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence products, including Azure Synapse, SQL Server, PowerBI, PowerApps, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, and related tools.
- Clear Communication: Demonstrated ability to articulate and convey complex problems and solutions in a straightforward, logical, and impactful manner.
- Data Validation: Proven experience in testing and validating data and reports, including contributions to test plans, test scenarios, and test scripts.
- Problem Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Scripting Knowledge: Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python is a plus.
