Job DescriptionNational Laboratory of the Rockies’ (NLR) Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) is seeking a full-time Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst. This role reports within the Business Systems group and supports Financial Planning & Analysis. The role focuses on implementing and maintaining BI reporting tools, developing reports and dashboards, contributing to data governance, troubleshooting BI issues, and assisting with optimizing enterprise reporting structures for improved analytics and reporting performance across the enterprise. As well as assisting and developing training materials for stakeholders.
The analyst will collaborate with NLR Information Technology Services (ITS) data team for data governance, delivery of OCFO data sets, and troubleshooting BI system errors.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in discussions with stakeholders to define and document requirements for new reports and dashboards.
Serve as a subject matter expert for data visualization, reporting best practices, and data management frameworks.
Design and develop innovative dashboards and visualizations to improve decision-making and business processes.
Conduct data analysis and modeling to identify trends, insights, and actionable recommendations.
Develop and document business requirements for new data sets, reports, and dashboards.
Perform testing and validation of reports/dashboards, ensuring adherence to business and technical requirements.
Define, validate, and manage business definitions for data sets and reporting schemas.
Collaborate with ITS to enhance data governance policies and ensure the accuracy and integrity of enterprise data.
Contribute to the development of new data sets, ensuring alignment with business requirements and reporting needs.
Provide troubleshooting and support for BI stakeholders and end-users.
Support development and maintenance of system documentation and training materials.
Contribute to creation and refinement of data governance policies and procedures.
Support education and training for customers using available BI and reporting tools.
Analyze new data sources for integration into the enterprise reporting framework.
Recommend and implement enhancements to the OCFO BI reporting framework for improved performance and scalability.
Actively contribute to cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment with OCFO objectives.

Additional Required QualificationsBasic understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field.
Basic knowledge of database concepts, data modeling, and schema design.
Basic knowledge of Power BI, SSRS, Tableau, or other reporting tools.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity tools.
Ability to access, query, analyze, and model incoming data.
General knowledge of other related disciplines.
Ability to work independently under general supervision and exercise judgment within established practices and procedures.
Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, matrixed organization.
Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)NLR takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees.
