POSITION: Business Intelligence Analyst (2 Positions Available)
REPORTS TO: Sr. Project Manager Coach Projects

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Business Analyst plays a critical role in delivering actionable, data-driven insights that support planning, compliance, efficiency, and customer project improvements at Ontario Northland. This role ensures that decisions are backed by comprehensive, accurate, and timely data, helping to optimize our services and align with contract requirements. The Analyst works closely with the Operations teams to develop KPIs, reports, predictive models, and forecasting tools that drive informed decision-making.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collect and manage data from internal and external sources to ensure accurate, consistent, and comprehensive datasets for analysis.
  • Analyze data to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategic planning, operational efficiency, and compliance.
  • Design and develop reports and dashboards that provide real-time insights to stakeholders, ensuring solutions align with system data structures and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to develop insights into service delivery and support continuous improvement.
  • Support compliance and initiatives by ensuring data and reporting processes align with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline data collection, reporting processes, and automation to improve efficiency.
  • Document data handling processes, analysis methods, and reporting standards to ensure consistent practices and facilitate knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand data needs, provide ad hoc analysis, gather feedback on insights, and tailor reporting solutions to support strategic and operational objectives.
  • Build, maintain, and refine predictive forecasting models leveraging historical and external data, validate predictions, and assess the impact of various operational scenarios.
  • Present analytical findings, forecasts, and performance metrics to stakeholders including customers, management, and executives.
  • Support special projects and other assigned initiatives through data analysis, reporting, and actionable recommendations.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • University degree in Business Administration, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • Data and reporting certifications such as Power BI certification or business analysis certification (e.g., IIBA) are considered an asset
  • Minimum 3 years of recent experience in a Business Analyst or Data Analyst role supporting operational or corporate services functions including but not limited to:
    • translating business requirements into dashboards, reports, KPIs, and performance measures
    • using Power BI and Microsoft Fabric to support operational decision-making
    • facilitating discussions with stakeholders to define requirements and validate solutions
  • Strong understanding of performance monitoring, forecasting, and predictive analytics
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business analysis and process improvement, including requirements elicitation, documentation and validation, business process analysis and mapping (current and future state), stakeholder facilitation, and workshop delivery
  • Familiarity with Agile or iterative solution design methodologies
  • Experience supporting compliance, regulatory, or transportation-related reporting is considered an asset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Visio
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data and analytics tools, including Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, SharePoint, SQL, and advanced Excel (formulas, pivot tables, and data modeling)
  • Experience using R or Python for data analysis and automation is considered an asset
  • Valid Class G Driver's License
  • Strong ability to analyze complex datasets, identify trends, and develop actionable business insights
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, critical-thinking, and attention-to-detail skills
