Full Job Description
The role:

We're hiring our first full-time commercial team member. Our company is almost entirely engineers, and we've closed a significant amount of revenue through founder-led sales. Now that our product is robust and scalable, it's time to scale our commercial efforts. This person will help us find the developers and hyperscalers building large-scale energy and data center projects, and get us onto the projects that matter. You'll own the whole thing: finding the right people, working our network of investors and others who want us to win, and sitting across the table from a developer's engineering and development leads to help them understand what changes when engineering is fast, iterative, and flexible instead of a months-long serial bottleneck.

Once we're in the room, the job is to understand what the customer is actually trying to accomplish, and then figure out how we get them there: sometimes with what our product does today, sometimes by prioritizing the capability we build next. That takes an intimate understanding of both sides. The customer's process, constraints, and what is slowing them down on one hand; our team and what our product can do on the other. You hold both in your head at once.

This is a discovery job more than a convincing job. What we do is very different from how the industry works today. Some customers aren't ready for it yet, and we'd rather come back to them once they are. The work is finding the culturally aligned customers who want to move faster, the right project to prove it on, and the right way to work together. Most of the people we want to work with already understand how valuable this is; the job is to find them, and to educate them on what a new way to build actually looks like in practice.

We are early. There is no sales team, no playbook, and no polished process, and we're not looking for someone to build one. We already work with some of the most ambitious and well-respected companies in this industry, and you will help us scale from those first projects to many more. Anything repetitive in this job should be automated with AI, and we expect you to do exactly that.

This role is in-person in San Francisco, CA. It is not a 9-to-5.

What we're looking for:
  • You've lived inside large capital projects (utility-scale energy, data centers, or comparable), from either the engineering side or the developer side, and you understand what a developer actually needs
  • You're frustrated with how slowly projects move today, and you inherently get what faster, more iterative engineering unlocks
  • Hungry and scrappy: you'll do every step yourself, from the first intro to the signed project, without a support team behind you
  • A translator: you can turn what a customer needs into what our engineers should build next, and turn what our product can do into something a customer wants to try
  • Comfortable educating sophisticated customers on a fundamentally new way to build, and comfortable walking away from the ones who aren't ready
  • An AI bull: you already automate everything repetitive with AI, or you're clearly on that ramp and can show it
  • Mission alignment and desire to build a future of abundance

Experience: Background in utility-scale energy, data centers, or other large capital projects, as an engineer, developer, owner's rep, EPC, or similar. No formal sales background required.

This is probably not the role for you if:
  • You need a defined sales process and a team around you to be effective
  • You like the high-level conversations but hand off once it gets into the weeds. Getting a project across the line here means owning every detail through to signature, not passing it to someone else
  • You'd rather pitch a fixed product than help shape one
  • You want a 9-to-5

Bonus:
  • An existing network among energy developers, hyperscaler infrastructure teams, EPCs, or utilities
