Business Development Officer/ DMV

Job Description

Title: Business Development Officer
Department(s): Retail
Reports to: Chief Deposit Officer

Salary Range: $95,000.00 - $130,000.00 Annually

Job Summary

The Core function of this role is to drive growth by identifying and establishing new Business relationships and directly bringing in new substantial core deposits (e.g. Checking, Savings Money Market accounts). The BDO is a high impact, results-driven professional focused on generating new business. The BDO role will work with all team members, including Lenders, Branches, and Treasury Management. They will have a strong knowledge of all business products and services, merchant services, treasury management services, business credit cards and other commercial products. Will focus on the geographical area from Northern Virginia, Maryland, and DC.

Essential Job Functions

  • Proactively identifies and targets key decision makers and business owners through networking, cold calls and lead generation to build a strong pipeline.
  • Develops and executes a strategic plan to acquire new high-value core deposits with a set goal amount per year in new funds.
  • Discuss prospect needs to offer tailored banking solutions to secure full banking relationships and deposits.
  • Coordinates and leads introductory meetings with prospects involving commercial lenders, consumer lenders and merchant services partners to secure full banking relationships and deposits.
  • Promotes a favorable image of the organization by representing it at high impact civic and community functions (Lead-Share Groups, Chamber Events, Industry Conferences, etc.) for the purpose of generating new business leads.
  • Makes retention and business development calls on existing and potential new clients.
  • Tracks, documents, and reports all activities, pipeline status, and new deposit acquisition performance to Chief Deposit Officer.
  • Assist in product and service pricing strategies for new prospect opportunities to ensure deposit profitability.
  • Discuss client needs, problems or complaints with senior managers.
  • Note: This role requires a strong entrepreneurial spirit and is focused on bringing in new money and new clients.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field OR work experience equivalent to job requirements
  • 2 years' work experience in the banking or financial industry
  • Basic understanding of financial institution policies and procedures
  • Good communication, sales experience and public relation skills
  • Excellent interviewing and researching skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills and business writing skills


Desired Skills

  • Sales or marketing experience with a diverse customer profile


Additional Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other computer components
