Business Development Manager
New York, United States (Hybrid, 3 days in-office)
Reports to: VP, Employer Partnerships
Employment Type: Full-Time
$82,000 plus bonus
About the RoleWe're seeking a Business Development Manager to help scale our automatic rollover (Safe Harbor IRA) business among advisors. This is a unique hybrid role combining sales prospecting and relationship-building with CRM operations and sales infrastructure.
You'll build and grow PensionBee's relationships with financial advisors and third-party administrators in the US. It's a hands-on role for someone who enjoys winning new partnerships and also building the machinery behind the sale: the materials, the process and the CRM. You'll work closely with our VP Employer Partnerships and lead a Business Development Representative who books meetings for you.
What You'll Do- Win new partners. Sign at least 2 new advisor or TPA relationships a month, using your judgment on who to target and how, through outreach and our existing pipeline.
- Grow existing partnerships. Act as co-owner of key partner relationships alongside our VP, helping each partner bring on around 20 new employer clients a year.
- Compete and win. Lead responses to competitive pitches, RFPs and complex follow-ups with the wider sales team.
- Build our sales toolkit. Own our sales materials, spot gaps and create what's missing, including call scripts and playbooks for the BDR.
- Own the sales process. Maintain the guides, process flows and handoffs across the full sales cycle, and be the main point of contact with our Operations team.
- Run email campaigns. Design, run and measure email marketing to advisors and TPAs.
- Own the CRM. Act as the primary owner and administrator of Pipedrive, including setup, data quality, reporting and automation.
- Lead and develop our BDR, setting priorities and coaching on outreach.
What you'll bring- 4-7 years in B2B sales or channel partnerships, with a track record of winning new relationships. Experience with financial advisors, TPAs, recordkeepers or the broader retirement plan market is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of retirement industry concepts (401(k), 403(b), automatic rollovers, ERISA, Safe Harbor rules)
- Familiarity with the RIA landscape and how advisors build their practices
- Comfort operating in a small, fast-moving team: you can close a deal in the morning and fix a CRM workflow in the afternoon.
- Strong writing skills for sales materials, pitches and email campaigns.
- Hands-on CRM administration experience (Pipedrive, Salesforce or HubSpot) and a data-driven approach to pipeline and campaigns.
- Experience coaching or managing a junior team member is a plus.
