The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving strategic growth across all CapWest Group of Companies entities, including but not limited to Forming, Pumping, Framing, Exterior Panel Systems, Drywall, Civil, and new acquisitions. This role focuses on identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities, while building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders. The position will support projects across the government, institutional, and commercial sectors, in addition to industrial and residential markets.

What you will do:


Business Development & Strategy

  • Find and pursue new opportunities across all CapWest divisions, with a focus on the Lower Mainland and wider BC market
  • Identify projects before they hit tender and figure out which divisions can participate
  • Build and carry out growth strategies that support company objectives
  • Track market trends, upcoming developments, and shifts in procurement

Client & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with GCs, developers, construction managers, consultants, and estimators
  • Maintain and grow ongoing First Nations and Indigenous partner relationships
  • Act as the main point of contact for prospective clients
  • Stay involved through the full lifecycle of each relationship: introduction, estimating, award, execution, closeout, and the next opportunity
  • Spot chances to introduce more CapWest services to existing clients and grow accounts across multiple divisions
  • Represent CapWest at industry events and associations (VRCA, ICBA, UDI, BCCA, and developer events), bringing division team members along where it makes sense

Pipeline Management & Reporting

  • Keep an active opportunity pipeline in our CRM, including probability, anticipated tender date, estimated value, next action, relationship owner, and outcome
  • Track leads, bids, and proposals from first contact through award
  • Report regularly on pipeline health and forecasts to leadership

Proposal & Pursuit Support

  • Work with the Director of Business Operations & Development to prepare proposals and presentations
  • Partner with estimators, PMs, and operations so bids follow our processes, timelines line up, and commitments to clients are realistic
  • Bring commercial awareness to client conversations around contract value, budgets, schedules, procurement strategy, value engineering, and risk

Internal Coordination

  • Give every division clear visibility into upcoming opportunities
  • Match pursuits to operational capacity and priorities



What you will bring:

  • 7 to 10+ years in the construction industry, with at least 3 to 5 years in business development, preconstruction, estimating, project management, operations, or client-facing roles
  • Experience across multiple construction scopes. Background in civil, concrete/formwork, electrical, drywall/interiors, equipment/rental, or pumping is a strong asset
  • Established relationships with GCs, developers, CMs, and consultants in BC, especially the Lower Mainland, and a good read on who the major players are and how their procurement teams work
  • A track record of building pipeline early and getting in front of decision-makers ahead of tender
  • Experience cross-selling additional services into existing accounts
  • Solid commercial understanding. You won't be pricing the work, but you know enough about margins, schedules, and risk to set the right expectations with clients
  • Comfort working hand in hand with estimating and operations, with an understanding that winning a bid is a team effort
  • Hands-on experience maintaining a real CRM pipeline with forecasting and reporting
  • Active involvement in BC construction associations and industry networks
  • Experience working with First Nations communities or on Indigenous partnership projects
  • Background at a multi-division or self-perform contractor
  • Existing relationships with developer procurement and preconstruction teams in Metro Vancouver

  

Salary Range:

$110,000-135,000 Per Year
