The Services and Support Operations (SSO) is a global leader of integrated MRO services and support. Business Development Manager I (Military Business Segment Leader) - (SSO Division - Location: Irvine, CA)

Position Summary

The Military Aftermarket Leader is accountable for global leadership of Parker Aerospace's Military Aftermarket (MRO) for the Services & Support Operations team. This role owns end to end strategy, growth, customer engagement, and financial performance for the military aftermarket portfolio, with responsibility for bookings, revenue, profitability, customer satisfaction and lifecycle optimization.

The role partners closely with Division General Managers, Product Support leaders, Operations, Engineering, Finance, Contracts, and Supply Chain to ensure world-class military customer support, regulatory compliance, and scalable growth aligned with Parker's long-term aerospace strategy.

Essential Functions:

Strategic Leadership & Growth
  • Develops and executes the global Military Aftermarket growth strategy, aligned with Parker Aerospace and SSO strategic objectives.
  • Leads 5-10 year market, revenue, and capacity planning for the Military MRO segment.
  • Identifies and prioritizes new market opportunities, platforms, public/private partnerships (PPPs), and international repair licensing strategies.
  • Drives lifecycle earnings optimization across products, platforms, and customer programs.
Financial & Business Performance
  • Owns P&L performance for the Military Aftermarket segment, with accountability for:
    • Bookings, revenue, margin (ROS)
    • DNE, pricing execution, and contract profitability
  • Establishes and monitors KPIs including bookings, sales, customer service metrics (Win Scorecard, LISC, TAT), and margin performance.
  • Leads pricing, contract negotiations, and RFA development in partnership with Contracts, Finance, and Legal.
Customer & Market Leadership
  • Serves as the executive interface for key military customers, government entities, and strategic partners.
  • Builds deep customer relationships to anticipate evolving requirements, fleet needs, and sustainment strategies.
  • Represents Parker Aerospace in customer forums, industry events, and strategic discussions related to military aftermarket support.
Operational & Cross Functional Integration
  • Partners with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality to ensure delivery excellence, capacity alignment, and compliance with military and regulatory requirements.
  • Leads standardization and simplification of customer-facing and aftermarket processes across divisions.
  • Champions Lean, continuous improvement, and S&OP execution to improve responsiveness and performance.
People & Organizational Leadership
  • Provides functional leadership for Military Aftermarket business development, customer management, and support teams across multiple sites and geographies.
  • Builds and executes a long-term talent and succession strategy, including capability development and leadership pipeline.
  • Leads through influence in a matrixed, global organization.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (BA) in Marketing, Engineering, or related field, and experience which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field is required. MBA preferred. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through twelve or more years of increasingly responsible aerospace experience, defense, or complex manufacturing environments with 8 or more years leading large, cross functional or global teams. Deep experience in Military MRO/Aftermarket, government contracting and regulated environments. Strong knowledge of business systems, financial controls, contracts, proposal development and negotiations, military and international regulatory requirements required.

Travel Expectations:

25%-35% of domestic and international travel is required in this role.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of principles, industry practices, company products, technology, regulations, service capabilities, and policies related to marketing and business development for airline, military, OEM, and aftermarket customers.
  • Knowledge of program management and business processes and procedures, including technical and business proposal development.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international customer budgeting and acquisition processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of government and industrial procurement regulations and practices. Knowledge of competitors' products and marketing efforts and national, industrial business, and political interests.
  • Knowledge of other companies' products and capabilities for potential teaming and alliances. Knowledge of related US and international rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work on most complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variables and/or incomplete data; understand problems from a broad, long-term perspective.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex policies and recommend changes to procedures. Ability to respond to significant inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to use standard business applications software.
  • Ability to effectively and persuasively present information to top management, customers, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to translate customer desires and projected requirements into business development strategies and develop solutions to customer problems.
  • Ability to demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.

  • Pay Range: $178400 to $312100 annually
