Full Job Description

Functional area: Business Development
Remuneration: Exempt

Role Responsibilities:
  • Create and build relationships across the energy and data center ecosystem in service of RWE FlexGen business development objectives
  • Manage commercial progress of FlexGen Energy Campus opportunities from conception to term sheet and detailed negotiations with hyperscalers and other data center customers
  • Research and gather market intelligence including public sources of information and direct relationships to inform FlexGen Energy Campus development activities
  • Maintain relationships with relevant utilities, coops, munis and other load serving entities to provide early insights on dispatchable generation needs, upcoming RFPs, large load tariffs and regulation and potential new data center projects in their service territory
  • Increase visibility of RWE FlexGen and energy campus capabilities and project pipeline through direct outreach, conference participation and presentations and networking across the energy and data center industries
  • Partner with internal stakeholders within FlexGen and across RWE to shape energy campus and standalone gas opportunities to meet the needs of customers (data centers) and partners (e.g., utilities)


Job Requirements and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline including business administration, economics, engineering, etc..
  • A minimum 5 years experience in the U.S. electric power sector or related field
  • Experience working with at least one of a leading U.S. utility or IPP, hyperscaler/co-lo/neocloud or data center developer
  • Demonstrated achievements in leveraging relationships and industry networks to create new business opportunities
  • Deep knowledge of the U.S. power sector or data center developer market or both
  • Commercial negotiations experience preferred
  • Professional experience at the intersection of the electric power sector and data center demand preferred
  • Relationship building:
    • Highly skilled and creating, building and cultivating professional relationships to create unique insights and unlock new business opportunities
  • Communications:
    • Clear, structuring and and highly polished written communication skills. This role will require quickly absorbing and understanding complex commercial arrangements regulatory structures and market rules, identifying unique commercial opportunities in that environment and clearly and concisely communicating this to partners, customers and other stakeholders
  • Industry knowledge:
    • Understanding, not necessarily mastery, of either the U.S. power sector or hyperscaler / data center key buying factors for energy
  • Influencing:
    • Requires influencing internal and external stakeholders of all backgrounds, seniority levels and areas of domain expertise
  • Innovative thinking:
    • Demonstrated ability to think creative, work with ambiguity and create new solutions to problems where little precedent exists
