Accountable for the top line, you lead the growth of the water business and Stantec's market position by leveraging your client and industry relationships, market knowledge, and technical understanding to pursue and win work that transforms our business and inspires our people. The Business Development Leader will work closely with regional growth leader, account and project managers, business developers, technical leadership, and marketing lead to develop growth strategies, pursue opportunities, strengthen our relationships with clients and teaming partners, and be Stantec's brand ambassador.
Your Key ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Regional Growth Leader (RGL), you are the "seller/doer" responsible for leading the pursuit and delivery of excellent work to our clients.
- You lead and participate in pursuits and campaigns for major business opportunities; engage directly in relationship development, positioning, win strategies and teaming.
- Grow Stantec's water business in the Minneapolis / Saint Paul area with the support of the Regional Growth Leader and other regional and local leadership.
- Manage key client relationships and target key clients and pursuits including large water and wastewater programs with a focus on the Twin Cities area.
- Identify important industry trends and develop strategies at the regional level to keep Stantec at the forefront of the market.
- Lead and support the business in decision-making such as strategic direction, goal setting, identifying clients, market challenges and opportunities.
- Engage our clients in meaningful discussions about their critical issues and translate those discussions into opportunities to deliver solutions.
- Prepare and maintain successful client account management plans that reflect the above.
- Enhance Stantec's brand presence and reputation in the industry through active participation in professional associations/committees.
- Collaborate with Stantec's other business lines including community development, transportation and environmental services to leverage relationships and resources to grow Stantec business.
QualificationsEducation, Experience, and Credentials- Bachelor's degree in civil or mechanical engineering, or equivalent required
- Minimum 10 years' relevant experience in business development in the public and municipal market associated with the planning, design and/or construction of water and wastewater projects.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
- Familiarity with Minneapolis / Saint Paul water and wastewater market and projects is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working in diverse team environments with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
- Geographically based in Minneapolis / Saint Paul area, or willingness to relocate.
About the TeamPay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
