Polsinelli's Marketing Department is seeking an experienced, proactive and analytically-minded business development and marketing professional to support the firm's Finance, Investment Strategies, and Real Estate practices. The Business Development & Marketing Specialist will work both independently and collaboratively with the Department's Senior Department Marketing Manager and team, in addition to Department Chairs, Practice Group Leaders, and attorneys across the practices, on initiatives designed to deepen client relationships, increase market visibility, and support firm growth.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Department's practice groups, attorneys, competition, client base, industries, and target markets to inform and advance opportunities to develop and expand client relationships and brand awareness.
  • Support the development and execution of business development initiatives, events and activities for the Department and its Practice Groups, both independently and in partnership with Department marketing leadership.
  • Leverage firm data to support targeted business development efforts, including client and prospect segmentation, list development, client targeting, experience identification, and opportunity analysis.
  • Develop and maintain reports that provide actionable insights into business development and marketing activities, helping the team and practice leadership understand engagement, activity, and results.
  • Monitor, track, and collaborate with attorneys on the practices' knowledge and experience management efforts using the firm's Foundation database, with an emphasis on ensuring experience can be effectively leveraged for pitches, credentials, market positioning, and other business development opportunities.
  • In partnership with the Research & Intelligence team, deliver research and competitive/market analysis inclusive of client insights, industry and market trends, lateral activity, thought leadership, events, news and experience, league tables, and other relevant sources; synthesize findings into actionable insights.
  • Support RFP and pitch response strategy and the creation of materials to develop targeted and tailored responses. Monitor and maintain proposal tracking information.
  • Ensure Department and practice-specific marketing and external content is compelling, accurate and kept up to date, including webpages, attorney bios, and pitch and proposal materials.
  • Support the strategic development, execution, and follow-up of client-facing events, in collaboration with the firmwide events team and Department marketing colleagues.
  • Facilitate and foster collaborative conversations among lawyers and within the Marketing Department to connect the dots across practices, clients, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with firmwide administrative departments to support Department priorities and initiatives, including pricing, conflicts, recruiting, and department operations, among others.
  • Support Department and practice-specific sponsorships, surveys, directories, awards, and rankings submissions, including Chambers, Legal500, and similar publications.
  • Other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 4 or more years of relevant work experience in the Legal (Am Law preferred) or other professional services industry.
  • Legal marketing and/or business development experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting Finance, Investment Management, Real Estate and/or related practices or industries encouraged.
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to organize, interpret, and communicate data in a way that supports business decisions.
  • Familiarity with CRM, experience management, marketing automation, email marketing, reporting, or other marketing technology platforms. Experience with Foundation, InterAction, or similar platforms preferred.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Intellectual curiosity and an interest in understanding how data, technology, AI, and emerging tools can improve business development and client growth efforts.
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to independently manage multiple priorities and recommend effective solutions.
  • Must be responsive to inquiries from internal clients, diplomatic in answering questions or evaluating proposed ideas, and thorough when offering feedback concerning results or issues that arise in the course of projects.
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work effectively with attorneys and executives, and ability to handle ambiguous or dynamic requests with a flexible working style.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000.
