Description

The Building Performance Engineer II actively contributes to sustainability consulting and high performance design and operations analysis for internal and external projects and clients. In addition, the Building Performance Engineer II will manage individually assigned projects as well as collaborate with team members on other projects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs energy model simulations using industry software to assess code compliance and high performance design
  • Analyzes, reviews, and/or consults on project documentation of energy-related systems found in architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings and specifications
  • Performs calculations to document various credits in the LEED rating systems
  • Provides comments and technical reports on LEED projects and sustainability goals to design teams, clients, and/or contractors
  • Completes the project scope and requirements with the client and other stakeholders
  • Manages individually assigned projects by monitoring the budget and schedule as well as maintaining communication with the client to ensure the project is completed to the client's expectations
  • Understands and communicates high performance design and sustainable design regulations to project teams
  • Assist senior staff and service line director in procuring and pursuing new work and new clients for business development
  • Maintains a positive relationship with internal and external clients through quality of communication and work product
  • Performs site visits to monitor progress, verify implemented LEED measures, and review conformance to the client's expectations and building codes
  • Attend and lead project design/construction meetings as needed
  • Participates in building assessments for Energy Star ratings and other energy performance aspects
  • Continuously reviews code and policy updates/addendums to see if any are applicable to a current project
  • Develop technical documentation and presentations to clients
  • Actively attends internal and external training and other educational opportunities to obtain knowledge in necessary technical areas
  • Assist with training of less experienced colleagues on LEED documentation and processes


KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) software
  • Knowledge of energy modeling software simulation programs (e.g., TraneTrace, IES)
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, loads, and controls
  • Knowledge of standards, codes, and rating systems associated with sustainability and energy performance
  • Knowledge of sustainable building practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of energy modeling process
  • Knowledge of LEED credit requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Six years of relevant experience; experience in energy modeling and working on LEED projects
  • Professional Engineer Licensure
  • Accreditation as a LEED AP preferred

Salary Range $77,013.00 to $115,520.00 USD
